II. Variety Origin: In 1995, bred by the pedigree method from a cross using Ji 93D22 as the female parent and Jiudao 16 as the male parent. Original designation Jiudao 101.

III. Characteristics:

1. Plant traits: plant height 100 cm, compact plant type, upright leaves, strong tillering ability, about 22 effective panicles per hill;

2. Panicle traits: panicle length 17.8 cm, loose panicle shape, 220 grains on the main panicle, average 120 grains per panicle, medium grain setting density, seed setting rate above 90%;

3. Grain traits: oval grain shape, yellow grain, awned, 1000-grain weight 28.0 g;

4. Quality analysis: According to the Ministry of Agriculture standard NY122-86 "High-Quality Edible Rice", 8 indicators - milled rice rate, head rice rate, grain length, length-width ratio, chalkiness degree, alkali spreading value, gel consistency, and amylose content - reached the first-grade standard for ministry high-quality rice, and 3 indicators - brown rice rate, chalky grain rate, and protein content - reached the second-grade standard for ministry high-quality rice;

5. Stress resistance: By artificial inoculation identification, resistant to seedling blast; by natural induction identification in off-site field trials, moderately susceptible to leaf blast, susceptible to neck blast;

6. Growth duration: medium-early maturing variety. Growth period 130 days, requiring accumulated temperature of 2600°C at ≥10°C.

IV. Yield Results:

In 2001, the average yield in the preliminary trial was 7876.5 kg per hectare, 2.1% higher than the control Changbai 9; in the 2002-2003 regional trials, the average yield was 8244.0 kg per hectare, 3.1% higher than the control Changbai 9; in the 2003 production trial, the average yield was 8750.3 kg per hectare, 10.1% higher than the control Changbai 9.

V. Key Cultivation Points:

1. Sowing and transplanting: sow sparsely to raise strong seedlings, sow in early to mid-April, transplant in mid to late May;

2. Cultivation density: 30×20 cm, 3-5 seedlings per hill;

3. Fertilization: formulated fertilization with nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium; apply 140 kg of pure nitrogen per hectare, applied as 20% basal fertilizer, 20% tillering fertilizer, 20% supplementary fertilizer, 20% panicle fertilizer, and 20% grain-panicle fertilizer; phosphorus fertilizer 60 kg, potassium fertilizer 60 kg, applied in two split applications;

4. Field management: water management should mainly be shallow irrigation, with intermittent irrigation after heading. Pay attention to controlling the striped stem borer in early to mid-July, and promptly control rice blast.

VI. Suitable Region: The medium-early maturing zone of Jilin Province.
