Introduction to the Zhengmai 9694 Wheat Variety

Zhengmai 9694 was bred by the @#@245@#@ Research Center of the Henan Academy of Agricultural Sciences and approved by Henan Province in 2006; it is a new wheat variety with high-quality steamed bun quality.

In high-yield field production, the yield per mu is 500-600 kg. In June 2007, the Henan Provincial Department of Science and Technology organized relevant experts to conduct an actual harvest yield measurement of the 2430-mu Zhengmai 9694 high-yield demonstration plot located in Xingyang City, with an average yield per mu of 649.5 kg.

Drought resistance and water saving: Zhengmai 9694 has a well-developed root system and strong drought resistance, with a drought resistance rating of level 2.

Strong disease resistance: moderately resistant to stripe rust, leaf rust and sheath blight, and moderately susceptible to powdery mildew.

High-quality steamed bun variety: steamed buns made from Zhengmai 9694 flour are large in volume, smooth on the surface, milky white in color, good in resilience, uniform and fine in the honeycomb texture of the inner crumb, chewy, and sweet-smelling.

Other characteristics: weak winter habit, semi-prostrate seedlings, plant height about 75 cm, spindle-shaped spike, early maturing, and good yellowing.

Suitable range: suitable for planting in early and middle-crop irrigated land in our province.
