Yimai No. 1 was developed by hybridization and selection using 1029 as the female parent and Chaodasui 84 (79) as the male parent. I. Main characteristics. 1) Short and sturdy culm: plant height is generally only about 70 cm, and the plants are sturdy; the root system is well developed and it is highly resistant to lodging. 2) Unique spike shape: club-shaped, wide at the top and narrow at the bottom; spikes are generally 12-14 cm long, with longer ones reaching more than 15 cm, each spike has 20-24 spikelets, the lower spikelets have 3-7 grains each, and the upper spikelets have as many as 7-12 or more grains,

2) Unique spike shape: club-shaped, wide at the top and narrow at the bottom; spikes are generally 12-14 cm long, with longer ones reaching more than 15 cm, each spike has 20-24 spikelets, the lower spikelets have 3-7 grains each, and the upper spikelets have as many as 7-12 or more grains, with a maximum of 16 grains; the spikelets are arranged very compactly, each spike sets more than 120 grains, with a maximum of more than 140 grains, and the number of grains per spike is 2-3 times that of ordinary varieties. The spike head tapers from top to bottom, which is distinctive and especially appealing. 3) Strong tillering ability and uniform growth: a single plant has 10-14 tillers, with a maximum of 28. The plants grow quickly and have good uniformity. The base of the wheat is clean, and the spikes are large and uniform. At maturity, the spike layer looks as neat as if cut by a knife, dense and uniform, with excellent growth; all who see it praise it, and it is deeply welcomed by farmers. 4) High yield and good quality: according to multi-year trial propagation arranged over 2 years, yields per mu were all above 600-700 kg. In many locations, it was 150-250 kg higher than the locally main planted varieties. The grains of this variety are white, the 1000-grain weight is about 45 g, the protein content is as high as 15.35%, and the flour extraction rate reaches 87%. It is chewy and tasty, making it a relatively high-quality variety. 5) Tolerant of late sowing, suitable in both winter and spring: although this variety is semi-winter, its suitable sowing range is relatively wide. According to spring wheat trials in the north and spring sowing trials in our area, whether sown in October or after the beginning of spring the following year, it can mature normally. Therefore, this variety can be sown in autumn and winter in the Huang-Huai-Hai region, can also be planted in spring wheat areas in the north, and can also be planted on a large scale in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River.

II. Cultivation points. 1) Apply 5 tons of high-quality decomposed organic fertilizer per mu, 100 kg of ammonium bicarbonate, 100 kg of superphosphate, 20 kg of potassium sulfate, and 1.5-2 kg of zinc sulfate; 2) Sowing from October 5 to 15 is more suitable. In the Huang-Huai-Hai and northern spring wheat areas, use 4-6 kg of seed per mu; in paddy fields in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, use 8-12 kg per mu. Planting 220,000-250,000 plants per mu is suitable; 3) From March to May after the beginning of spring, spray 3-5 times with potassium dihydrogen phosphate combined with urea or Gaomeishi, etc., to obtain higher yields.
