Introduction to the Characteristics of the Jifeng No. 3 Eggplant Variety

Variety source: Jinan Vegetable Science Research Institute, Shandong Province

Characteristics: a weak-light-tolerant cultivar, indeterminate growth, vigorous growth in cultivation. Fruit is long oval. Fruit color is deep purple, glossy, single fruit weight 750g, mid-late maturing, a variety specially for protected cultivation. The purple coloring inside the calyx of the eggplant fruit is a distinctive feature, strong disease resistance (fusarium wilt, verticillium wilt), open leaves, large leaves, good fruit marketability, stable fruit shape, tolerant of storage and transport.

Cultivation points: propagated by grafting. Winter cultivation seedling age 70-80 days, transplant at 7-8 leaves. High-ridge beds covered with film, bed width 1.4m, large row spacing 80cm, small row spacing 60cm (double rows), plant spacing 40cm, keep fewer than 2000 plants per mu. Winter single-stem pruning, spring double-stem pruning. Greenhouse temperature management with large day-night temperature difference: 30°C during the day, 15°C at night, likes water and fertilizer, keep soil moisture moderate. In the late growth stage, renew in time so that the plants bear fruit alternately, in order to increase economic returns.
