Can emamectin benzoate control the rice leaf roller?

Emamectin benzoate is a new type of high-efficiency semi-synthetic antibiotic insecticide synthesized starting from the fermentation product avermectin B1. It has the characteristics of biological pesticides such as ultra-high efficiency, low toxicity (the formulation is nearly non-toxic), no residue, and no pollution. Compared with avermectin, its insecticidal activity is first increased by 1-3 orders of magnitude. It has extremely high activity against the larvae of Lepidoptera insects and many other pests and mites. It has both stomach poison action and contact action, and has very good effects at very low doses (0.084~2g/ha), and in the process of controlling pests it is harmless to beneficial

It has both stomach poison action and contact action, and has very good effects at very low doses (0.084~2g/ha), and in the process of controlling pests it is harmless to beneficial insects, which is conducive to integrated pest management. In addition, it broadens the insecticidal spectrum and reduces toxicity to humans and livestock.

(1) Applicable crops: Emamectin benzoate is highly safe for all crops in protected cultivation or at 10 times the recommended dose. Western countries have already used it on many food crops and cash crops. Considering that it is a rare green pesticide, China should first use it on cash crops such as tobacco, tea, and cotton, as well as all vegetable crops, to control insect pests.

(2) Mechanism of action: Emamectin benzoate can enhance the action of neurotransmitters such as glutamate and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), thereby causing a large amount of chloride ions to enter nerve cells, causing loss of cell function, disrupting nerve conduction. After contact, larvae immediately stop feeding and undergo irreversible paralysis, reaching the highest mortality rate within 3-4 days. Because it binds tightly to soil, does not leach, and does not accumulate in the environment, it can be transferred through translaminar movement, is very easily absorbed by crops and penetrates into the epidermis, giving treated crops a long residual effect. After more than 10 days, a second peak in insecticidal mortality rate appears, and at the same time it is rarely affected by environmental factors such as wind and rain.

(3) Pest control: Emamectin benzoate has activity against many pests that other pesticides cannot match, especially ultra-high efficiency against Lepidoptera, Diptera, and thrips, such as red-banded leaf roller, tobacco budworm, cotton bollworm, tobacco hornworm, diamondback moth and armyworm, beet armyworm, black cutworm, cabbage looper, imported cabbageworm, cabbage webworm, cabbage stem borer, tomato hornworm, Colorado potato beetle, Mexican bean beetle, etc.
