Introduction to the Characteristics and Traits of the Jiudao 45 Rice Variety
I. Breeding Institution: Jilin City Academy of Agricultural Sciences
II. Variety Origin: In 1995, bred by the pedigree method from a cross with Zhongzuo 191-1 as the female parent and Fenghanzao as the male parent. Original code name Jiudao 301.
III. Characteristics and Traits:
1. Plant traits: plant height 104 cm, compact plant type, erect leaves, strong tillering ability, about 21 effective panicles per hill;
2. Panicle traits: panicle length 19.2 cm, loose panicle shape, main and tiller panicles uniform, main panicle grain number 181, average grain number per panicle 120, medium grain density, seed setting rate above 90%;
3. Grain traits: grain oval, yellow, sparse short awns, 1000-grain weight 26 g;
4. Quality analysis: According to the NY122-86 "High-Quality Edible Rice" standard, 8 indicators - milled rice rate, head rice rate, grain length, length-to-width ratio, chalkiness degree, alkali spreading value, gel consistency and protein content - reached the first-grade standard for ministry high-quality rice, and 3 indicators - brown rice rate, chalky grain rate and amylose content - reached the second-grade standard for ministry high-quality rice;
5. Stress resistance: by artificial inoculation identification, moderately susceptible to seedling blast; by natural induction identification in fields at different locations, susceptible to leaf blast, susceptible to neck blast;
6. Growth duration: a mid-late maturing variety. Growth period 138 days, requiring ≥10°C accumulated temperature of 2750°C.
IV. Yield Results:
In 2001, the average yield in the preliminary trial was 7435.5 kg per hectare, a decrease of 9.6% compared with the control Tong 35; in 2002-2003, the average yield in the regional trial was 8313.7 kg per hectare, an increase of 3.2% compared with the control Tong 35; in 2003, the average yield in the production trial was 7905.0 kg per hectare, an increase of 4.7% compared with the control Tong 35.
V. Key Cultivation Points:
1. Sowing and transplanting: sow sparsely to raise strong seedlings, sow in early to mid-April, transplant in mid to late May;
2. Cultivation density: 30×20 cm, 3-4 seedlings per hill;
3. Fertilization: formula fertilization with nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, apply 130 kg of pure nitrogen per hectare, applied as 40% base fertilizer, 30% tillering fertilizer, 20% supplementary fertilizer and 10% panicle fertilizer; phosphorus fertilizer 60 kg and potassium fertilizer 60 kg, applied in two splits, 70% as base fertilizer and 30% as topdressing at the jointing stage;
4. Field management: water management should mainly be shallow irrigation, with intermittent irrigation after heading. In early to mid-July, pay attention to controlling the striped stem borer, and pay attention to timely control of rice blast.
VI. Suitable Region: the mid-late maturing zone of Jilin Province.
