How does the Xiangmai 969 wheat variety perform?

Xiangmai 969 was bred by the Xiangcheng City Institute of Agricultural Sciences. Approval number: Yushenmai 2006018.

I. Characteristics. Xiangmai 969 is a weak-springness, multi-spike, mid-early maturing variety. It joints rapidly in spring, with a plant height of about 70 cm, good stem elasticity, a compact plant type, and an even spike layer. The spike is rectangular, with long awns, white glumes, and white grains; the grains are oval, medium to large, and plump.

II. Comprehensive resistance. The disease-resistance identification results from the Institute of Plant Protection, Henan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, from 2004 to 2006 and the provincial @#@245@#@ regional trial results show that this variety is resistant to lodging, tolerant of drought, and strongly resistant to dry hot wind; it is moderately resistant to leaf blight, sheath blight, and stripe rust, and moderately susceptible to powdery mildew and leaf rust.

III. Yield performance. In 2004-2005, it participated in the Henan Province wheat variety regional trial, high-fertility spring-water Group II; 7 sites were summarized, 7 sites showed increases, with an average yield of 473.7 kg per mu, an increase of 7.54% over the control Yumai 18. In 2005-2006, it participated in the Henan Province wheat regional trial, with an average yield of 509.4 kg per mu, an increase of 7.96% over the control variety. In 2005-2006, it also participated in the Henan Province wheat variety springness group production trial; 9 sites were summarized, 9 sites showed increases, with an average yield of 475.1 kg per mu, an increase of 8.1% over the control, ranking first among the tested varieties. In 2005-2006, the Xiangcheng City Institute of Agricultural Sciences demonstrated planting on 60 mu, with a yield of 612 kg per mu.

IV. Suitable region. Xiangmai 969 is suitable for planting in medium- and high-fertility fields in Henan Province on medium-late stubble plots (except the southern rice-wheat region).

V. Key cultivation points. (1) The suitable sowing period is October 15-25; sowing in early November can still achieve high yield. (2) The suitable sowing rate is 8-10 kg per mu; the sowing rate should be increased for late sowing. (3) Fertilization requirements. Apply sufficient base fertilizer according to the principle of stabilizing nitrogen, increasing phosphorus, and supplementing potassium, and note to topdress 8-10 kg of urea per mu at the greening and jointing stage. (4) Timely control diseases and insect pests.
