According to Cheng Shunhe, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and chief expert of the Yangzhou Sub-center of the National Wheat Improvement Center, super wheat refers to wheat varieties with breakthrough yield increases on the basis of the comprehensive goals of high yield, high quality and high efficiency. Unlike traditional high-yield breeding, it pursues the conservation and efficient use of water, fertilizer, light and heat resources, and represents the development direction of China's wheat production. At present, China has established a medium- and long-term research and development framework for super varieties of four major crops: rice, wheat, corn and soybean. Yangmai 15 is a new high-yield, high-quality weak-gluten wheat variety, suitable for producing special flour for high-quality biscuits and pastries. On-site yield measurements of this variety by relevant experts showed that the average yield per mu in the Yangmai 15 demonstration area reached 559.7 kg, and it has strong comprehensive resistance and great potential for yield increase in the later stage, meeting the needs of developing an advantageous industrial belt for high-quality weak-gluten wheat in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River.
