Four Reform Measures for Bag-Cultivated Lingzhi (Ganoderma) Cultivation Technology

1. Change the substrate from sawdust to wood blocks. Lingzhi (Ganoderma) is tough in texture and needs to absorb large amounts of lignin and cellulose during its growth. When sawdust or cottonseed hulls are used as the substrate, because the texture is loose, the lignin in the substrate is easily decomposed by the mycelium, and often after harvesting one to two flushes the mushroom log disperses and falls apart. If wood blocks mixed with coarse sawdust are used as the substrate, the same volume contains more lignin, and there are many gaps between the wood blocks, giving good aeration, which is favorable for lingzhi growth, so yields are high and quality is excellent. 2.

2. Change indoor cultivation to outdoor soil-covering cultivation. In indoor bag cultivation of lingzhi, the surface of the mushroom log easily forms a relatively thick layer of mycelial skin, which makes manual water replenishment difficult and greatly affects the yield of the second flush. Changing indoor cultivation to outdoor soil-covering cultivation can better solve the problem of replenishing water to the mushroom log; the log can absorb water and beneficial trace elements from the soil, making it easy to obtain high and stable yields. In addition, the light source is evenly distributed outdoors, so the lingzhi grown is large, round and regular, and glossy in color, and the proportion of first-grade products is clearly higher than indoors.

3. Change the mushroom log from lying flat to standing upright. When the log lies flat, a large surface is stimulated by light, and the primordia are dense and small. Even if thinning of primordia is adopted, the primordia at the base are small and fine, and it is always difficult to cultivate high-quality lingzhi with large caps and thick flesh. When the log stands upright, the light-receiving surface is concentrated at the top of the log, the primordia produced are sparse and thick, and the caps correspondingly become thicker and larger, and the yield per unit planting area can also be increased by more than one times.

4. Change picking the lingzhi to cutting the lingzhi. Mature lingzhi is generally lignified or keratinized, and the stipe is tightly connected to the substrate. If the fruiting body is directly broken off by hand, the mushroom log is severely damaged, which is unfavorable for the growth of the second flush, and at the same time the wound is easily infected by contaminating microorganisms. Changing picking to cutting, using pruning shears to harvest, makes the cut smooth and causes no damage to the base of the stipe. For the second flush, the base of the first-flush stipe can be used as a primordium to quickly grow new lingzhi buds, reducing the interval between flushes and shortening the production cycle.
