Introduction to the Characteristics and Traits of the Longshu No. 4 Potato Variety
Characteristics: The growth period (from emergence to maturity) is 90-100 days, making it a medium-maturing variety. The plant type is semi-upright, and the mature plant is relatively luxuriant, with a plant height of 50-60 cm, 7-9 branches on the main stem, a stem diameter of 10-13 mm, and green stems. The leaves are dark green with flat leaf margins. The inflorescence peduncle is yellow-green, the corolla is white, the stamens are yellow, there is abundant pollen, fertility is relatively weak, the stigma is 3-lobed, and it occasionally sets fruit naturally. The tubers are oblate or oblate-elliptical, with yellow skin and white flesh, relatively shallow eyes, and a depression at the navel end. Tuber set is concentrated, with 4-7 tubers per plant, and the rate of large and medium tubers is 75-90%. It is highly resistant to viral diseases, moderately resistant to late blight, and has strong drought resistance. In regional trials, the yield per mu was 1472.3 kg, an increase of 32.3% over the control.
Suitable range: Suitable for planting in arid areas and high-cold humid and semi-shaded areas, and suitable for early-maturing cultivation with plastic film mulching.
Cultivation points: In high-cold humid areas, a density of 4000-4500 plants per mu is required, in arid areas 2500-3000 plants per mu, and the density for plastic film cultivation can be appropriately increased. Practice plant selection for seed retention, and advocate the use of virus-free seed potatoes.
