Detailed Introduction to the Wandao 30 Rice Variety
Wandao 30 (formerly known as 88-23) was developed by the Anqing City Agricultural Science Institute in Anhui Province through systematic selection from variant plants of the late japonica variety Wangcheng Xuanliu. It passed certification by the Anhui Provincial Crop Variety Certification Committee in May 1996. After years of trials and demonstrations, it has shown high yield, good quality, good plant architecture, tolerance to fertilizer, resistance to lodging, and disease resistance, making it especially suitable for double-cropping late rice cultivation in the riverside region.
Characteristics: plant height 75-85cm, compact plant type, dark green leaf color, large opening angle of lower leaves, wide leaves, short and erect flag leaf, which is beneficial for photosynthesis. Sturdy stems, tolerant to fertilizer and resistant to lodging. Panicle length 14.3-15.2cm, dense grain setting, average filled grains per panicle 75.4-80.1, seed setting rate around 80%, 1000-grain weight 24.7-26.0g, medium tillering ability, effective panicle rate above 80%, good late-stage ripening appearance, not prone to shattering, whole growth period 125-130d. Brown rice rate 83.6%, milled rice rate 75.7%, head rice rate 71.1%, grain length 5.3mm, length-width ratio 2.05, chalkiness rate 3%, chalkiness degree 0.20%, transparency grade 1, alkali spreading value 6.8, gel consistency 77.0mm, amylose content 18.9%, protein content 9.8%.
From 1991 to 1992, it participated in the Anhui Provincial late japonica regional trial. Over 2 years and 18 location-times, the average yield per 667m2 was 399.6kg, an 8.0% increase over the control Eyi 105. In 1994, it participated in the Anhui Provincial late japonica production trial, with an average yield per 667m2 of 362kg, a 2.6% increase over the control.

Region and Techniques: 1. Timely sowing. For double-cropping late rice cultivation, the sowing period is June 15-20, the seeding rate in the seedling field must not exceed 35kg per 667m2, apply sufficient base fertilizer, and cultivate strong seedlings. 2. Timely transplanting, reasonable dense planting. The seedling age should be controlled within 40d. Generally for double-cropping late rice cultivation, the transplanting period is mid-to-late July, planting density 25,000-30,000 hills per 667m2, 6-8 seedlings per hill, row spacing 17cm, hill spacing 13cm. 3. Scientific fertilizer and water management. This variety has strong fertilizer tolerance, requiring a total nitrogen amount of 10-12kg per 667m2, P2O5 6kg, K2O 7kg. Base fertilizer should be mainly farmyard manure, and topdressing should be applied based on plant appearance during weeding. Achieve shallow planting and shallow water for seedling establishment. After field drying, maintain alternating wet and dry conditions until maturity, prevent premature water cutoff in the late stage, and promptly control diseases.
