Fujian Academy of Agricultural Sciences Successfully Bred High-Quality Early Indica Rice Jingfu 4a
After 5 years of effort, the Fujian Academy of Agricultural Sciences has successfully bred a high-quality early indica rice - Jingfu 4a. Experts believe that this research achievement has reached the advanced level of similar international research.
This achievement was successfully cultivated through arduous efforts by Zhou Tianli, a researcher at the Rice and Wheat Research Institute of the Fujian Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and his research group. Using Jingfu 4a to formulate early hybrid combinations can greatly improve the quality of China's early-season hybrid rice.
According to relevant experts, for a considerable period of time in China, there have been too few high-quality male sterile lines used to formulate early hybrid combinations, and they could not meet production needs. Over the past 5 years, Zhou Tianli's research group used scientific methods and repeated screening to finally successfully breed the new early-maturing, high-yielding male sterile line Jingfu 4a. At a recent appraisal meeting, experts believed that the male sterile line Jingfu 4a has excellent quality. According to testing by the Rice and Rice Products Quality Supervision and Testing Center of the Ministry of Agriculture, 7 of 12 indicators reached the Ministry-issued grade 1 standard for high-quality rice.
