Introduction to the Green Rice 24 (9724) Rice Variety

This variety is a new conventional medium indica variety with high quality, high yield, and disease resistance introduced by Sande Company of the Green Institute, Anhui Academy of Agricultural Sciences. In recent years, it has been planted on a large scale in southern Anhui, northern Anhui, and areas along the Huai River in our province, showing the characteristics of both high quality and high yield, and has been listed by various places as the preferred variety for quality rice development. The variety has a whole growth period of 140 days, a general yield of 550 kg, and high-yield fields can reach 600 kg. Plant height is 120 cm, tillering ability is medium, large panicles with many grains, total grains per panicle 145, 1000-grain weight 28.7 g, seed setting rate 88%, resistant to disease, resistant to planthoppers, good color retention at maturity, excellent rice quality, slender grains, no white core, no white belly. According to tests by the Rice Quality Inspection and Testing Center of the Ministry of Agriculture, 7 indicators reached the Ministry-issued grade 1 standard for quality rice. In 2000, it was listed by the Provincial Agricultural Commission as one of the first recommended varieties for quality rice under the three ten-million projects. In the same year, it participated in the Anhui Province quality rice regional trial, with an average yield of 528.2 kg per mu, an increase of 0.36% over the control Shanyou 63, ranking 2nd in the group, and was the only conventional quality rice variety that exceeded Shanyou 63.
