Introduction to the characteristics of the Pushu 23 sweet potato variety
Variety approval number: Guoshen Shu 2002005
Crop type: Sweet potato
Variety name: Pushu 23
Breeding unit: Puning Agricultural Science Research Institute, Guangdong Province
Variety source: Female parent: Guangshu 87-58; Male parent: Pushu 17-1.
Provincial approval status: Approved in 1997 by the Guangdong Provincial Crop Variety Approval Committee. Characteristics: Plant type semi-erect, top leaves purple, leaves pointed heart-shaped, leaves medium-sized, veins green, stems with purple, stems relatively thin, short vines with many branches, vine length 95-120 cm, branches per plant 12-16, tubers swell downward, tuber skin earth-yellow, tuber flesh yellow, sweet taste, attractive and smooth tuber shape, high marketable tuber rate, good storability and sprouting ability. Early maturing, generally tubers form in 25-30 days, harvested in 120-130 days. Dry matter rate 29.25%, taste score 79.7, slightly lower than the control, starch rate 18.07%, vitamin C content 22.17 mg/100 g. Identified by the Puning Agricultural Science Institute of Guangdong Province, resistant to sweet potato bacterial wilt in the field, indoor inoculation identification showed highly susceptible to group I, moderately susceptible to group II, moderately susceptible to vine-cutting disease.
Yield performance: In the national southern sweet potato variety regional trial in 1999 and 2000, the two-year average fresh tuber yield per mu was 2017 kg, an increase of 77.44% over the control Guangshu 88-70, reaching an extremely significant level. In the 2001 production trial at the Guangxi Maize Research Institute, fresh tuber yield per mu was 1839.5 kg, an increase of 22.2% over the control Baise high-quality variety, dry matter rate 28.5%, dry tuber yield per mu 524.3 kg, an increase of 23.5% over the control variety; in the production trial in Chaozhou City, Guangdong Province, fresh tuber yield per mu was 3432 kg, an increase of 22.7% over Pushu 6, dry matter rate 30.7%, dry tuber yield per mu 1053.5 kg, an increase of 33.6% over the control variety.
Key cultivation techniques: Use tender and strong seedlings, plant appropriately densely to increase the number of tubers formed, with a density of about 4000 plants/mu; summer-planted sweet potatoes can be inserted slightly deeper; after the tubers crack, cultivate soil thickly in time to prevent high-temperature sunburn damage to tubers and rodent damage. One month after planting, apply a heavy dose of nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium compound fertilizer.
National Variety Approval Committee approval opinion: After review, this variety meets the national sweet potato variety approval standards and has passed approval. It is suitable for planting in Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Jiangxi and other provinces.
