Detailed Introduction to the Hero Red Hot Pepper Variety
Hero pepper is an excellent hot pepper variety bred by Known-You Seed Co. of Taiwan, China, with the characteristics of high yield, good quality and strong resistance. In variety comparison trials and production demonstrations, it performed outstandingly and has good promotion value. Under protected cultivation, the yield per mu can reach 3000 kg, and the output value can exceed 5000 yuan.
1 Characteristics and traits
The plant grows vigorously, with a plant height of 75 cm, a spread of 70 cm, strong branching, and dense internodes. With proper management, a single plant can bear more than 150 fruits. The young fruit is deep green, the fruit length is 15-18 cm, the transverse diameter is 1.5 cm, the fruit surface is smooth, the fruit is conical, and the pungency is strong. The soluble solids content of the fruit is as high as 6.2%, the crude fiber reaches 3.52%, the vitamin C reaches 133.2 mg/100 g, and the carotene content reaches 8.2 mg/100 g. The whole growth period is 280 days, the disease resistance is strong, and it grows well at low temperatures. It takes 80 days from transplanting to harvest.
2 Cultivation points
2.1 Seedling raising: Cultivating strong seedlings is the key to high yield. Use a small arched shed for seedling raising. The sowing rate per square meter of seedbed is 3 g. Sow evenly. After sowing, cover with a mixture of fine soil and organic fertilizer, just enough to cover the seeds. After covering the seeds, cover the seedbed with a shade net to prevent high temperatures from causing excessive seedling growth. For protected cultivation, the sowing period is from July 15 to August 5.
2.2 Land preparation and transplanting: After spreading the base fertilizer, prepare the land and make high ridges for transplanting. The ridge width is 1-1.2 m, the ridge furrow depth is 25 cm, the row spacing is 70 cm, and the plant spacing is 80 cm. Transplant in double rows. Transplanting can be done when there are 5-6 true leaves. Plant 2500 plants per mu.
2.3 Field management: Harvesting and integrated control of diseases, insects, and weeds are the same as for conventional varieties.
