1. Characteristics and traits

The variety has a full growth period of 540 d, a plant height of about 150 cm, a green main stem, pale yellow-green flowers, a 1000-seed weight of about 0.26 g, a yellow-white root system, a root length of 40 cm at the medicinal material stage, and a rhizome head diameter of 0.8-1.5 cm.

2. Main yield performance

In the Codonopsis strain regional trial in Dingxi City, the variety had an average converted yield of 359.6 kg/mu of fresh Codonopsis, an increase of 15.5% over the control variety (local field seed); from 2001 to 2004, multi-site trial demonstrations were carried out in Min County, Zhang County, Weiyuan, Longxi and other places, with an average yield of 370.8 kg/mu, an increase of 16.0% over the control.

3. Internal quality

According to identification and analysis by the Gansu Provincial Institute for Drug Control: the properties and microscopic characteristics of the new Gansu Codonopsis strain 92-02 all meet the requirements, the extract content is 75.9%, which is 20.9 percentage points higher than the standard specified in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia, and the polysaccharide content (sulfuric acid-phenol method) is 6.1%. The quality indicators are significantly better than the standard specified in the 2000 edition of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia.

4. Product grade

Under standardized cultivation conditions, the yield rate of premium grade products of this strain is 18.9%, and the yield rate of first grade products is 26.3%.

5. Disease resistance

Under soil conditions with a three-year crop rotation system, the average incidence of root disease is 3.7%, and the disease index is 1.4%.

6. Suitable areas

This strain is suitable for cultivation in semi-arid areas, semi-shady areas and high-cold shady and humid ecological areas at an altitude of 1800-2400 m with an annual precipitation of 450-600 mm.
