Medicinal Herb Cultivation 0 views
8917-2 is a new Codonopsis pilosula line in China developed through crossbreeding by the Dryland Agriculture Research Institute of Dingxi Prefecture, Gansu Province. It shows strong advantages such as high and stable yield, drought and cold resistance, and wide adaptability. It increases yield by 20%-30% compared with Shanxi Ludang Codonopsis and Gansu Baitiao Codonopsis, producing 150-200 kg of dried product per 667 sq m, with the highest reaching 250 kg. The key points of its seedling raising and cultivation techniques are briefly introduced as follows. 1. Seedling raising The seedling field should be finely cultivated and fully applied with base fertilizer. Apply 2,500 kg of decomposed farmyard manure per 667 sq m, additionally apply 100 kg of cake fertilizer

Apply 2,500 kg of decomposed farmyard manure per 667 sq m, additionally apply 100 kg of cake fertilizer, then scatter 1.5-2 kg of 3911 granules, plow deeply and harrow finely, prepare the land and make beds. The bed width is 90-120 cm, with a 30 cm drainage ditch left between beds. Both spring and autumn sowing are possible. Spring sowing is from late March to mid-April, and autumn sowing is from mid-to-late October. Water thoroughly once before sowing, and after the surface soil dries slightly, drill or broadcast sow. When sowing, open furrows 1.5-3 cm deep across the bed at a row spacing of 10-12 cm, mix the seeds with an equal amount of fine sand, drill sow, cover with 0.7-1 cm of soil, press firm, and then cover with a layer of straw. Sow 0.5-1 kg per 667 sq m. Germination occurs half a month after sowing, and transplanting can be done after 1 year of growth.

2. Planting and management To prevent variety mixing and degeneration, the planting field of this variety should be more than 1 km away from other Codonopsis pilosula varieties. Spring planting is in April, and autumn planting is in October. Apply sufficient base fertilizer, dig and transplant at the same time, open furrows at a plant spacing of 12-15 cm and a depth of 15-19 cm, place the seedlings obliquely in the furrows, cover with 3 cm of soil, and press firm. After transplanting, when the plant height reaches 6-10 cm, cultivate and weed 2-3 times, and shallow cultivation is preferable to avoid damaging the roots. When the seedlings are 12-15 cm tall, supports can be set up along the rows so that the stems and vines twine around the supports for ventilation and light transmission. Alternatively, during hot and rainy seasons, cut off part of the Codonopsis vines on sunny days to prevent vine contamination and rotting and avoid affecting yield.
