Cultivation Techniques for a Single-Season Rice Yield of 800 kg per Unit Area
I. Variety Selection
Select the best-quality varieties that have shown the best per-unit-area yield in actual production surveys over the past three years, such as "Chuanxiang No. 8."
II. Main Recommended Techniques
Dry-raised seedlings, intensive cultivation techniques for single-season rice, soil-testing formula fertilization techniques, and integrated pest and disease control techniques.
III. Specific Field Operations
1. Dry-raised seedlings
(1) Before May 19, select fertile, loose vegetable garden field; at 6 sq m of seedling field per mu of main field, apply 50 g (1 liang) of 45% compound fertilizer plus 50 g (1 liang) of superphosphate, crushed, per sq m of seedling bed as base fertilizer; after fertilizing, fine-rake the seedling bed surface.
(2) Use 400 g (0.4 kg) of seed per mu of main field, soak the seed in a 2000-fold "402" chemical solution, wash clean after soaking, and after promoting germination until the white sprouts show, sow evenly on the seedling bed before May 20, press firm with a wooden board, water, and cover with fine soil. On rainy and overcast days, cover with a layer of small-arch plastic film, and ventilate promptly when the weather clears.
(3) Transplant when the dry-raised seedlings reach a seedling age of 10 days.
2. Main Field Transplanting and Management
(1) Apply sufficient base fertilizer, dig trenches and make beds. Use 500 kg of already decomposed chicken manure (or 1000 kg of decomposed pigpen manure) per mu as base fertilizer. After plowing, apply 35 kg of ammonium bicarbonate mixed with 30 kg of superphosphate (or 50 kg of the rice-specific compound fertilizer "Huiduoli") per mu as a surface-harrowing fertilizer, then dig trenches and make beds, with a bed width of 3 m, a trench width of 30 cm, and a trench depth of 20 cm. Level the bed surface using full trench water as the benchmark, and transplant rice seedlings the next day.
(2) Wide rows and dense plants, sparse single-plant planting. Use 10-day dry-raised seedlings, with a transplanting density of about 10 x 6 cun, a bed width of 3 m, 10 rows of rice transplanted per bed, about 10,000 hills transplanted per mu, and single-plant transplanting.
(3) Apply topdressing. Seven days after transplanting, broadcast per mu 7.5 kg of urea plus 15 kg of potassium chloride mixed with 100 g of 35% Dingbian mixture herbicide. From early August at young panicle differentiation to the booting stage, apply per mu 3-5 kg of urea plus 5 kg of potassium chloride as panicle fertilizer according to seedling condition. From the breaking stage to the full heading stage, together with disease and pest control, apply one vial of Penshibao per mu diluted in 50 kg of water, spraying 2-3 times for foliar fertilization.
(4) Scientific water management. Before transplanting, drain the main field until the trenches are full of water and there is no water layer on the bed surface. After the seedlings are transplanted, keep the trenches full of water. In dry weather, or under strong sun, when the bed surface forms a crust, irrigate a thin water layer of 1 cm. When applying tillering fertilizer and panicle fertilizer, keep a shallow water layer on the bed surface. During the effective tillering stage, keep the field moist. At the jointing stage or when the number of stems and tillers in the main field reaches 80% of the effective panicle number, promptly drain the trench water for field drying. Irrigate shallow water from booting to heading. After full heading, fill the trenches with water or shallow water; after it drains naturally, irrigate and drain again, repeating this alternation. Drain water 7 days before harvest. When applying pesticides for disease and pest control and chemical weeding, irrigate a 3 cm water layer.
3. Control of Diseases, Pests, and Weeds
Carry out control according to the requirements of unified prevention and unified treatment.
