Introduction to the Huaidao 9 (Su Shen Dao 200607) rice variety
Huaidao 9, originally named "Huai 68", is a late-maturing medium japonica rice variety systematically bred by the Huaiyin Institute of Agricultural Sciences of the Xuhuai Region of Jiangsu from Huai 9712 (Yangdao 3 / 02428 // IR26 /// Zhongguo 45 / Lianjing 1), and was developed in 2000. It is suitable for planting under medium-to-high fertility conditions in central Jiangsu and the hilly areas of Nanjing, Zhenjiang and Yangzhou.
Yield level and characteristics. It participated in the Jiangsu provincial regional trial from 2003 to 2004, with a two-year average yield of 586.0 kg per mu, an increase of 11.8% over the control Wuyujing 3, with the yield increase in both years reaching an extremely significant level; in the 2005 production trial, the average yield was 556.3 kg per mu, an increase of 8.5% over the control. There are about 200,000 effective panicles per mu, about 100 filled grains per panicle, a seed-setting rate of about 85%, and a 1000-grain weight of about 27 g. The plant height is about 100 cm, and the whole growth period is about 152 days, comparable to the control.
The plant type is compact, with vigorous growth, a medium panicle type, relatively strong tillering ability, erect and dark green leaves, good population uniformity, good late-season ripening color, relatively strong lodging resistance, and grains that are relatively difficult to shatter; inoculation identification shows moderate susceptibility to panicle neck blast and bacterial leaf blight; rice quality physicochemical indicators: according to tests by the Food Quality Inspection Center of the Ministry of Agriculture from 2003 to 2005, the head rice rate is 63.5%, the chalky grain rate is 14.3%, the chalkiness degree is 1.8%, the gel consistency is 73.0 mm, and the amylose content is 18.0%. The rice quality physicochemical indicators reach the national standard third-grade high-quality paddy standard.
