Introduction to the High-Quality Early Indica Rice Variety Jiayu 948

Variety characteristics: The whole growth period of this variety is 107-108 days, about one day earlier than Zhe 852, and it is suitable for light cultivation. Tillering is moderate, and the panicle shape is relatively large. The total number of grains per panicle is about 110, the number of filled grains is about 90, the seed-setting rate is 80-85%, and the 1000-grain weight is 22.5-23.0 grams. It has good cold tolerance at the seedling stage, is not prone to seedling rot, has a high rate of healthy seedling formation, and has moderate flexibility in seedling age. It is relatively tolerant to fertilizer and resistant to lodging. It is moderately resistant to rice blast and bacterial leaf blight, colors well in the later stage, and ripens with green stems and yellow grains.

The grain quality is excellent. According to the determination by the Rice and Rice Products Quality Testing Center of the Ministry of Agriculture: seven major quality indicators of this variety, including milled rice rate and amylose content, reached the ministry-issued second-class standard for edible high-quality rice. The provincial "9410" collaborative group organized multiple taste evaluations at multiple sites within the province. Jiayu 948 scored 6.2 points, clearly superior to Xieyou 45's 5.2 points. The cooked rice has good palatability and excellent eating quality.

Main cultivation techniques:

1. Cultivate strong seedlings of suitable age. Control the seedling age within 30 days, and the leaf age at transplanting should not exceed 5.5 leaves. The sowing rate in the seedling field should not exceed 40 kg per mu, and the ratio of seedling field to main field is about 1:5.5.

2. Transplant with few seedlings per hill and sufficient hills for dense planting. Transplant 28,000-30,000 hills per mu, and achieve 120,000-150,000 basic seedlings per mu.

3. Apply fertilizer reasonably. Apply sufficient base fertilizer, mainly organic fertilizer, apply seedling fertilizer early and sufficiently, and supplement with phosphorus and potassium fertilizer. Control the total fertilizer amount at 50-55 dan of standard fertilizer per mu.

4. Scientific water and slurry management. Apply and manage early to promote early development, control the maximum number of tillers in the middle stage, preferably at 400,000-500,000 per mu, prevent too-early water cutoff in the later stage, and pay attention to the prevention and control of diseases (mainly sheath blight) and insect pests.
