Detailed Introduction to the Daoguang No.1 Rice Variety
I. Breeding Institution: Tonghua Academy of Agricultural Sciences
II. Variety Origin: Bred in 1988 by crossing "Qiuguang" as the female parent with "Jingyin 127" as the male parent. Original code name Tongjing 793.
III. Characteristics:
1. Plant traits: plant height 110 cm, about 16 tillers per plant, medium tillering ability, light green leaf color, flag leaves held upright, thick and sturdy stems, rice ears in the field half drooping in a ring;
2. Ear traits: ear length about 21 cm, main tiller ears uniform, grain number per main ear 180, moderate grain density, seed-setting rate above 90%;
3. Grain traits: grain yellow, oval-shaped, awnless, excellent rice quality, 1000-grain weight 27 g;
4. Quality analysis: According to the Ministry of Agriculture standard NY20-1986 "High-Quality Edible Rice", 10 indicators - brown rice rate, milled rice rate, head rice rate, length-to-width ratio, chalkiness, transparency, alkali spreading value, gel consistency, amylose content, and protein content - reached the first-grade standard for high-quality rice; 1 indicator, chalky rice rate, reached the second-grade standard;
5. Stress resistance: artificial inoculation identification at the seedling stage, medium resistance to seedling blast; natural induction identification in fields at different locations, medium susceptibility to leaf blast, medium susceptibility to ear blast;
6. Growth duration: medium-maturing variety. Growth period 137 days, requiring ≥10°C accumulated temperature of 2800°C.
IV. Yield Results:
In the 2001 preliminary trial, the average yield per hectare was 7618.0 kg, a 0.4% increase over the control Jiyugeng; in the 2002-2003 regional trial, the average yield per hectare was 7916.4 kg, a 2.1% increase over the control Jiyugeng; in the 2003 production trial, the average yield per hectare was 8407.5 kg, a 2.8% increase over the control Jiyugeng.
V. Cultivation Points:
1. Sowing and transplanting: dry seedling raising under plastic film with sparse sowing, sowing rate 100-150 g per sq m, transplanting in mid to late May, following the principle of sparse planting on fertile land and dense planting on poor land;
2. Cultivation density: 30×20 cm, 2-3 seedlings per hole;
3. Fertilization: for ordinary plots, apply 150 kg of pure nitrogen per hectare, of which 50% as basal fertilizer, 30% as green-turning fertilizer (about 40 days before earing), and 20% as ear fertilizer (about 15 days before heading); apply 70 kg of pure phosphorus and 80 kg of pure potassium at one time as basal fertilizer;
4. Field management: shallow water irrigation during the tillering stage, shallow water or moist irrigation during the booting stage, and alternating dry and wet conditions during the maturity stage. In early to mid-July, pay attention to controlling the striped stem borer, and promptly prevent and control rice blast.
VI. Adapted Regions: Medium-maturing zone of Jilin Province.
