Cherry Radish Planting Methods and Key Technical Points
Cherry radish is a type of four-season radish in our country. Because its appearance is similar in color and size to a cherry, it is called cherry radish. Cherry radish contains various minerals, trace elements, and other substances beneficial to the human body. Now the planting area of cherry radish in our country is also becoming wider and wider, so how should cherry radish be planted? Below, the editor brings you the planting methods for cherry radish. Let's take a look together!

1. Selecting Varieties
The selection of cherry radish varieties is very important. A good variety not only determines the growth ability of cherry radish, but also has a great relationship with the final yield and quality. Therefore, before planting, we must choose the planting variety well. When choosing a variety, it should be decided according to market demand and the planting region. Common varieties on the market now include Chimaru Hatsuka Daikon and Zaohong, and their growth periods are both about one month. They have strong growth ability and are suitable for growing in warm environments, but their heat tolerance is not strong.
2. Land Preparation and Bed Making
If cultivating in early spring, cherry radish grows relatively fast, so it is necessary to choose sandy soil with sufficient fertility, deep and loose texture, and strong permeability. Then apply sufficient base fertilizer before land preparation. The base fertilizer should mainly be decomposed farmyard manure, and pay attention to the amount used. If the base fertilizer is insufficient, the growth rate of cherry radish will noticeably decrease, and the fleshy root will lack nutrients and be unable to expand. Premature bolting occurs, affecting planting benefits. Early spring planting is generally mainly flat-bed sowing. After applying sufficient base fertilizer, carry out land preparation and deep plowing to fully mix the soil and fertilizer. Then make beds half a month before sowing, and cover with plastic film as early as possible to increase soil temperature.
3. Timely Sowing
Cherry radish has relatively strong cold tolerance. It can be sown when the soil temperature is not lower than 8 degrees. The earlier it goes on the market in spring, the better its economic benefits will be. Therefore, we should sow as early as possible. Before sowing, soak the seeds in warm water at about 30 degrees for about 1 hour, then place them at a temperature of about 19 degrees for germination. After about 2 days, the seeds will show white sprouts. Then water on the bed ridge and sow by dibbling. After the water infiltrates into the soil, control the sowing density well and sow at the right time. After sowing, cover with fine soil. Pay attention that the seeds are fully and evenly distributed, and keep the soil covering thickness consistent.
4. Field Management
After sowing, cover with plastic film in time, and at night properly cover with rice straw for insulation. Control the daytime temperature at about 25 degrees, and the nighttime temperature should not be lower than 7 degrees at minimum. Then uncover the rice straw every morning until the temperature gradually drops in the afternoon, then cover it again. After about two weeks, the seedlings will emerge and become uniform. After the seedlings become uniform, pay attention to doing ventilation work well, and the temperature can be appropriately lowered to about 19 degrees. Then thin the seedlings at least about 2 times. When the seedlings grow to about 5 true leaves, final thinning should be done in time. Do a good job in fertilizer and water management, and cultivate and weed in time, creating a good growing environment for cherry radish.
The above is a brief introduction to cherry radish planting methods. The planting of cherry radish is relatively simple, but field management work must be done well. Then there is the prevention and management of pests and diseases. Only by doing these tasks well can the normal growth of cherry radish be ensured, yield be increased, and quality be enhanced.
