Aconite Pest and Disease Control Methods and Key Technical Points
Aconite, also known as caowu, salt aconite, and e'erhua, is the "first-grade yang-restoring and counterflow-rescuing" herb in traditional Chinese medicine, with the effects of restoring yang and rescuing from counterflow, supplementing fire and assisting yang, and dispersing cold and relieving pain. In the process of cultivating aconite, pests and diseases are one of the main reasons affecting its yield and quality, so how should aconite pests and diseases be controlled? Let's take a look together.

1. Southern blight
This disease is the main disease of aconite, generally occurring in the high-temperature seasons of summer and autumn. After onset, the tuberous roots begin to rot, the leaves begin to change gradually from bottom to top, and finally most of the tubers rot, the leaves wither and fall off, and the whole plant dies. On the rhizomes at the ground surface, white silky hyphae and brown sclerotia can also be seen.
Control method: carry out reasonable crop rotation with rice or wheat crops, do a good job of disinfection when preparing the land, and when diseased plants are found, dig them out promptly and take them out of the field to be burned, and spread lime powder on the diseased holes for disinfection. At the same time, spray carbendazim on the surrounding plants to prevent the disease from spreading.
2. Downy mildew
It is one of the main diseases of aconite during the seedling stage when planted, with a relatively high incidence rate and relatively severe condition, and it is extremely prone to occur during rainy and cold wave periods. When the disease occurs, the leaf edges curl backward, the leaf color turns grayish white, and a light purple mold layer appears on the back of the leaves, which is the pathogen.
Control method: when the disease occurs at the seedling stage, thoroughly pull out the diseased seedlings, then spray Bordeaux mixture on the leaf surfaces and backs of the surrounding seedlings to prevent the disease from spreading.
3. Powdery mildew
It generally occurs from June to September. When the disease occurs, it starts from the leaves on the lower half of the plant and gradually spreads upward. A layer of white powdery substance is produced on the stems and leaves, and the leaves begin to gradually twist and slowly wither and die.
Control method: strengthen fertilizer management, enhance the disease resistance of the plants, pay attention to soil moisture, and drain promptly after the rainy season. When the disease occurs, spray triadimefon, and the effect is relatively good.
4. Aphids
Aphids damage plants as adults and larvae, generally starting to appear from March to April, with May to June being the peak period of infestation. They gather on the leaves and gnaw at the tender stems at the top of the plants, eating the tender parts of the plants clean in a short time, causing the plants to be unable to grow normally.
Control method: when pest damage occurs, spray with a 40% dimethoate emulsifiable concentrate 800-1500 times solution.
