Environmental requirements for wood ear mushroom growth

Wood ear mushroom is a fungal vegetable, and its cultivation method is completely different from ordinary vegetables. During cultivation, its growing environment has certain requirements. For example, temperature, moisture, nutrients and so on are all indispensable when growing wood ear mushrooms. Otherwise, the growth of wood ear mushrooms will be seriously affected. So what exactly are the environmental requirements for wood ear mushrooms? Below, the editor brings you the environmental conditions needed for wood ear mushroom growth. Let's take a look!

1. Nutrients

Wood ear mushrooms have a very high demand for nutrients during growth and need to obtain nutrients such as nitrogen, carbon and inorganic salts from the growing substrate. Sufficient nutrients can ensure the growth of wood ear mushrooms. Therefore, during cultivation, in order to promote the growth of wood ear mushroom mycelium, an appropriate amount of wheat bran, rice bran and other substances with high nitrogen content should be prepared. Wood ear mushrooms also need certain inorganic salts such as calcium, phosphorus and magnesium, so wood is generally used as the cultivation substrate.

2. Temperature

Each growth stage of the wood ear mushroom has different temperature requirements. For example, during the fruiting body stage, the temperature should be maintained at around 23 degrees, and the most suitable temperature for mycelium growth is between 23-28 degrees. Within the suitable temperature range, if the temperature is lower, although the growth cycle is longer, the fruiting bodies grow well and have strong quality. If the temperature is high, it easily causes excessive mycelium growth, and yield and quality decline. Moreover, if it is hot and humid, it can also cause the fruiting bodies to rot, resulting in the "flowing ear" phenomenon.

3. Moisture

Just like the temperature requirements for wood ear mushrooms, each growth stage of the wood ear mushroom has different moisture requirements. During mycelium growth, the moisture content of the log should be maintained at about 38%, while the moisture content of the culture material should be maintained at 58%. Air humidity must also not be lower than 70%. When the fruiting body formation stage arrives, the moisture requirements are even higher. Air humidity should increase to 92%. When it is lower than 80%, the growth of the fruiting bodies will be seriously affected.

4. Air

Wood ear mushrooms are quite fond of air during growth, so during cultivation it is necessary to ensure that the growing site is sufficiently well ventilated and that air circulates, so as to meet the oxygen needs of wood ear mushroom mycelium growth. If the growing site is too enclosed and not easy to ventilate, the expansion of the wood ear mushroom caps will be hindered, and deformed wood ear mushrooms such as chicken-claw ears are easily formed, causing them to lose commercial value. Moreover, ensuring good ventilation can also reduce the phenomena of wood ear mushrooms becoming moldy and rotting or being infected by contaminating microorganisms.

5. Light

During the mycelium growth stage, wood ear mushrooms basically do not need light. However, during the fruiting body growth period, a certain amount of light is needed, but care should be taken not to let direct sunlight hit them; scattered light should be the main source. During the fruiting body stage, if they are completely in a dark environment, wood ear mushrooms are not likely to form fruiting body primordia, and insufficient light will also inhibit the growth of fruiting bodies. Therefore, during cultivation, it is necessary to ensure sufficient scattered light to promote the growth of wood ear mushrooms.

The above is a brief introduction to the environmental condition requirements for wood ear mushroom growth. The cultivation substrate for wood ear mushrooms is not soil, but wood. Therefore, in terms of management, it is very different from ordinary vegetable field management. So these are not only the environmental requirements for wood ear mushroom growth, but also the management work we need to do well during cultivation. Everyone must pay close attention. That is all for today's introduction. This article is for reference only, and I hope it can help everyone!
