High-yield fertilization techniques for rapeseed

Rapeseed is widely distributed in China, and it is grown in many regions. Rapeseed is a crop with a high fertilizer demand. For rapeseed, only reasonable fertilization can achieve high yields. So how should rapeseed be fertilized to achieve high yields? Let's learn about it together.

1. Fertilizer requirements

Rapeseed has a relatively long growth period, a well-developed root system, and a strong ability to absorb nutrients. It has a very high demand for nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium fertilizers, among which the demand for nitrogen fertilizer is the highest, potassium fertilizer is second, and phosphorus fertilizer is the least. According to research, during the seedling stage, rapeseed's need for nitrogen fertilizer accounts for about 44 of the entire growth period, from bolting to flowering about 46%, and the mature stage about 10%; for phosphorus, the seedling stage accounts for 20%, from bolting to flowering 22%, and the mature stage about 58%; for potassium fertilizer, the seedling stage accounts for about 24%, the bolting and flowering stage about 54%, and the mature stage about 22%. In addition to nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium fertilizers, it is also relatively sensitive to trace elements such as boron and calcium. When boron is lacking, the yield is not high.

2. Apply sufficient base fertilizer

The rapeseed plant is tall and large and requires a large amount of fertilizer, so the application of base fertilizer should be emphasized during cultivation. If the base fertilizer is insufficient, the seedlings will grow weak and thin, which will affect plant growth and rapeseed yield. The base fertilizer should be mainly organic fertilizer, supplemented by chemical fertilizer. Generally, 2500-3000 kg of organic fertilizer, 25-35 kg of compound fertilizer, and 0.5-1 kg of boron fertilizer are applied per mu. When applying, combine it with land preparation and plowing to apply the organic fertilizer, compound fertilizer, and boron fertilizer deeply. Be sure not to apply fertilizer too shallowly, so as to avoid fertilizer deficiency in the seedlings later.

3. Reasonable topdressing

Throughout the entire growth period of rapeseed, in order to ensure sufficient nutrients for growth, in addition to applying sufficient base fertilizer, topdressing is also needed several times. During the seedling stage, in order to promote root growth, 300-500 kg of human excrement and urine, 5-7 kg of urea, and 10-15 kg of ammonium bicarbonate should be topdressed per mu depending on the seedling stage. During overwintering, in order to increase low temperature resistance and allow it to overwinter safely, generally 3000-4000 kg of farmyard manure and 20 kg of compound fertilizer should be applied per mu. Before fertilizing, first carry out intertillage and weeding, then apply straw mulch, and finally fertilize. In early spring, after the temperature warms up, rapeseed begins to bolt. At this time, nitrogen and potassium fertilizers should also be applied reasonably according to the actual situation.

4. Supplementary application of flower and leaf fertilizer

The flowering and pod stage of rapeseed is relatively long. Once plants are found to be deficient in fertilizer, flower and leaf fertilizer should be applied promptly. You can dilute 1 kg of compound fertilizer with 100 kg of water and spray it, or spray a mixed solution of low-concentration urea and potassium dihydrogen phosphate.
