How to Grow Sprouts

There are many varieties of sprouts, such as bean sprouts, Chinese toon sprouts, peanut sprouts, dragon bean sprouts, radish sprouts and more than thirty other varieties. Sprouts contain relatively comprehensive nutrients and have effects such as beauty enhancement, anti-cancer and life extension, making them a very common vegetable. So how are sprouts generally grown? Today, the editor will take everyone to learn about the cultivation methods of sprouts.

1. Seed Selection and Soaking

Seeds suitable for growing sprouts should generally be selected for large grain size, fast sprout growth speed, thick hypocotyls, strong disease resistance, high germination rate, high economic benefit, good quality and strong adaptability to the environment. Before sowing, the seeds should first be cleaned, selecting high-quality seeds free from pests and damage, then rinsed twice with clean water and soaked in warm water at around 25 degrees. During the soaking process, the water needs to be changed twice, and when the seeds' water absorption reaches the maximum, the soaking is finished, and the mucus attached to the seeds should be rinsed off.

2. Seed Tray Treatment

Before sowing, the seed trays also need to be prepared, and the trays should be cleaned and disinfected. First scrub the trays clean, then soak them in quicklime water, take them out after five or six minutes, and rinse them clean with water. Finally, spread a layer of substrate on the trays, and then sowing management can begin.

3. Scientific Sowing

When sowing, note that the trays should be kept consistent and the sowing should be even. After sowing, do not knock against the trays, so as to avoid the seeds shifting and uneven sowing. Pour an appropriate amount of nutrient solution onto the substrate spread in the trays to moisten it, then evenly scatter the seeds onto the seedling trays, with a thickness of about 1.5 cm. After sowing, move the seedling trays to a place with good ventilation and indirect sunlight.

4. Management After Tray Placement

As the sprouts grow, we need to gradually increase the light intensity, and when the sprouts are harvested, the trays need to be moved into the sunlight for growth. During the process of cultivating sprouts, we need to spray water three or four times a day; sprouts grown in winter and spring only need to be sprayed two or three times, but note that the amount sprayed should not be too large. Generally, the air humidity should be kept at around 85%, and ventilation should be carried out twice a day. If the temperature is relatively cold, short periods of ventilation are also needed. Generally, they can be harvested in about a week, when the sprouts are very tender and have the best taste.

The above is what the editor introduced today about the cultivation methods of sprouts, hoping to help everyone. In fact, growing sprouts is really simple, and the yield is quite good, and the fresher the sprouts, the more popular they are in the market.
