How to Fertilize Amomum villosum? Detailed Fertilization Methods and Key Technical Points
Amomum villosum is a perennial herbaceous plant of the genus Amomum in the ginger family (Zingiberaceae). It is mainly distributed in the Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi and Yunnan regions of China, and has the effect of treating stagnation of spleen and stomach qi, undigested retained food, and abdominal pain and distension. In addition, it has high ornamental value, as its flowers and fruits can be enjoyed in summer. So how should Amomum villosum be fertilized during cultivation? Let's find out together.

1. Apply sufficient base fertilizer
When planting, fertile, loose sandy loam or light clay soil with strong water and fertilizer retention capacity should be chosen. Damp broad-leaved evergreen forest land and mountain slopes, valleys and flat land with convenient irrigation and drainage can all be used for planting, but sandy soil and heavy clay soil are not suitable. Before planting, in combination with land preparation, apply 1500-2000 kg of decomposed barnyard manure or compost and 20-25 kg of superphosphate per mu, and spread them over the soil.
2. Fertilization during the growth period
For newly planted plants, fertilizer should be applied 2-3 times each year. The first time is fertilization at the seedling stage, in order to promote seedling growth and make the plants grow vigorously. At this time, after applying the base fertilizer, 20-25 kg of superphosphate per mu can be applied, mixed with 1.5-2.5 kg of urea, and applied in furrows. The second time is in August. This fertilization is mainly to improve the cold resistance of the seedlings. Apply 1500-2000 kg of decomposed compost per mu, together with an appropriate amount of nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium compound fertilizer, broadcast it, and then earth up.
3. Fertilization during the flowering period
When Amomum villosum enters the flowering period, its demand for nutrients is relatively high. In order to increase the fruit-setting rate and seed-setting rate, flower-strengthening fertilizer should be applied during the flowering period. During the flowering period, 1000 kg of decomposed manure water and 3-5 kg of urea can be applied as a topdressing per mu. When the buds of Amomum villosum are about to open, foliar spraying can be used to maintain trace elements. A mixed solution of low-concentration potassium dihydrogen phosphate and boric acid can be sprayed on the leaves, about 100 kg per mu.
4. Fruit-preserving fertilizer
During the fruiting period of Amomum villosum, improper management can easily cause fruit drop. Therefore, in May-June, in order to prevent fruit drop, potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution should be sprayed promptly at the late flowering stage and young fruit stage, which can improve the fruit retention rate. A 0.5% urea solution can also be sprayed, which can promote the expansion of young fruits and reduce fruit drop. After fruit harvesting, the plants consume a large amount of nutrients. At this time, in combination with cutting old and withered seedlings, apply 2500 kg of decomposed compost, 50 kg of soybean bran and 20-25 kg of superphosphate per mu, so that they accumulate nutrients and recover tree vigor as soon as possible.
