Planting Methods for Green Radish

There are now many varieties of radish, among which the white radish is the most common, but the green radish is also a very common type of radish in China, also called the green-skinned radish. In China, green radish is mainly produced in Tianjin and Shandong. Green radish contains abundant nutrients needed by the human body, has high edible value, and also possesses certain medicinal value. So today we will mainly look at the planting methods for green radish. Let's take a look together.

1. Preparation of the Planting Site

Green radish is a deep-rooted plant, but it does not have high requirements for the growing environment. However, the quality of green radish grown in different soils varies. It is generally suitable for planting in deep, well-drained, nutrient-rich sandy loam. The soil should be deeply plowed, and base fertilizer should be applied heavily. The base fertilizer is mainly farmyard manure, supplemented with plant ash, phosphate fertilizer and ammonium bicarbonate. Turn the potassium fertilizer into the soil, rake the ground level, open furrows with a row spacing of about 1.2 m, then sun the soil and wait for sowing.

2. Scientific Sowing

The sowing time for radish is generally related to the climate of the planting site, but in most regions sowing is done around August, and harvesting can be done by the end of October, though some are a little later. Generally, the growth period and harvest period should be controlled to before December. Sowing is generally done by the drill method, choosing overcast and rainy weather for sowing. The distance between each row is about 60 cm. Sow the seeds evenly and cover them with soil, which will result in a much higher germination rate.

3. Seedling Stage Management

Since the growth period of green radish is not long to begin with, the seedling stage is relatively short as well. When sowing green radish, the seeds are not sown according to plant spacing, so after sowing, thinning must be done twice. When the seedlings grow to about 4-5 cm, carry out the first thinning, at which time the plant spacing is about 4-5 cm. Then water once a week to maintain field moisture and promote the growth of green radish seedlings. When 4-5 true leaves have grown, carry out the second thinning, with the distance between each plant at 30-40 cm, and reasonably carry out one shallow plowing to prevent the soil from becoming compacted and affecting soil permeability.

4. Field Management

After green radish seedlings enter the growth period, their demand for water and nutrients also becomes greater. In the early stage, we need to first promote the growth of the aboveground stems and leaves. A ternary compound fertilizer can be used for fertilization, and watering should be done about once every ten days, with intertillage and weeding carried out once every half month. When the green radish root and stem become thick and strong, at this time we should pay attention to balanced moisture to avoid the phenomenon of radish cracking. During this period, mainly decomposed farmyard manure is used for topdressing to promote the thickening of the roots, with rational use of phosphate fertilizer and urea.

The above is the green radish planting method that the editor has brought to everyone today. I hope it can be helpful to everyone. Of course, if you encounter other problems during the planting process, you can also leave a message for the editor to consult.
