What are the main varieties of Bidens? This article gives you an overview
Bidens is a very common medicinal herb in rural areas of China, but it is also a weed that many farmers deeply dislike. Bidens generally grows well in tropical and subtropical climates, so China's climate happens to meet the most basic conditions for Bidens growth. There are also many varieties of Bidens, and today the editor will mainly introduce a few of the most common varieties. Let's take a look.
1. Bidens bipinnata
The most distinctive feature of Bidens bipinnata is that its leaves show ternate compound leaf division or pinnate division. The edges of its leaves are coarsely serrated, and the leaf surface is generally linear; the fruit generally grows to about three to four centimeters millimeters, and the fruit is rather thin. The whole plant can be used as medicine, for detoxification and reducing inflammation. In our country it is mainly distributed in Heilongjiang, Jilin and other places.
2. Bidens cernua
Bidens cernua is currently a very common variety, and it is planted in most areas of our country. Its leaf surface is very similar to willow leaves, so it is called Bidens cernua. The edges of its leaves are also serrated, but the serrations are relatively sparse. The fruit generally grows to five or six millimeters, larger than the fruit of Bidens bipinnata, and it can be used medicinally, often for detoxification and dissolving blood stasis.
3. Bidens pilosa var. radiata
Bidens pilosa var. radiata is a variety of Bidens. Its main difference from Bidens is the flower; its flower is a white ligulate flower, six or seven millimeters long and four or five centimeters wide, and it can also be used as medicine. Its fruit is black and can grow to about twelve or thirteen millimeters. In our country it is mainly planted in East China, South China and Southwest China and other regions.
4. Market conditions and effects
The market conditions of Bidens are mainly related to factors such as local demand and planting area. For example, the current Bidens market in Yulin City is not very good, but the Bidens market sales in Puning have always been relatively stable. At present, the general price of Bidens on the market is about three to four yuan per jin, and in some places it is only a little over two yuan per jin. Bidens is mainly used to treat some relatively minor diseases, such as respiratory infections, sore and swollen throat, acute appendicitis, gastroenteritis and other diseases, and the effects are all very good.
In fact, there are still many varieties of Bidens, but at present the main ones are the above three varieties. They have great similarities, but each is also different. So when planting Bidens, everyone should choose good varieties to maximize benefits.
