Fertilization methods for dandelion

Dandelion is a perennial herb in the family Asteraceae, also known as huanghua diding or popoding. It is rich in vitamins and other trace elements, and has relatively high nutritional and medicinal value. It has diuretic and cholagogue effects, and is commonly used to treat heat toxin, red swollen and painful eyes, jaundice, toothache, sore throat, acute mastitis, acute tonsillitis, gastritis and other inflammations. Dandelion is now grown in many regions, so how should dandelion be fertilized? Let's take a look together below.

1. Base fertilizer

The application of base fertilizer is the foundation for dandelion growth. In fact, most people know that dandelion is a wild plant. Large amounts of wild dandelion grow in many rural areas, and they do not have high nutrient requirements and are highly adaptable to the environment. However, in order to improve the yield and quality of dandelion, we still need to apply sufficient base fertilizer. The base fertilizer is mainly composed of decomposed farmyard manure, generally applied at a rate of 3000 kg per mu, together with a small amount of compound fertilizer. The fertilizer should be mixed evenly and turned into the soil.

2. Seedling fertilizer

When dandelion seedlings emerge, we can apply a little liquid fertilizer to promote the growth of the seedlings. The liquid fertilizer we mainly use is manure and urine water, or high-efficiency nitrogen fertilizer, applied by irrigation. When fertilizing, note that the liquid fertilizer must not be poured onto the leaves of the seedlings, as this will burn the seedlings. Secondly, when fertilizing, an appropriate amount of phosphate fertilizer can also be added to enhance the resistance of the plants.

3. Growth fertilizer

Growth fertilizer generally waits until dandelion has grown three to four true leaves. Since dandelion is mainly grown to promote the growth of branches and leaves, our fertilization is usually mainly nitrogen fertilizer. At this stage of fertilization, we can apply fertilizer in furrows or in holes. The fertilizer used is mainly urea, with a small amount of potassium fertilizer and phosphate fertilizer added. The hole application method is the best method, as it allows the nutrients to be fully utilized.

4. Later-stage fertilizer

Later-stage fertilizer is actually also called late growth fertilizer. For this fertilization, we mainly need to choose the fertilizer and decide the amount of fertilizer according to the growth condition of the dandelion. If in the later stage of dandelion growth, the leaves turn yellow or growth is slow, then we need to apply an appropriate amount of urea, combined with a three-element compound fertilizer, and it can be applied by watering after dilution to reduce the concentration, which is more conducive to the plant's absorption and growth in the later stage.

The fertilization method for dandelion is actually very simple, because dandelion grows quickly. Generally, when the base fertilizer is sufficient, the amount of later topdressing is usually not very large. Only when necessary do we need to appropriately apply a small amount of fertilizer to enhance immunity and promote growth. If you want to learn more about dandelion, remember to follow us.
