Wheat Seed Prices and Planting Methods

Wheat is a grass-family plant widely grown around the world, also known as bran wheat, floating wheat, and wheat grain, among other names. Together with rice and corn, it is known as one of the "three major grains." It is used almost entirely as food; once milled into flour, it can be made into bread, steamed buns, cookies, noodles, and other foods. It is widely cultivated around the world. Now let's take a look at wheat seed prices and planting methods!

How much do wheat seeds cost?

Variety Name Packaging Specifications Reference Price Variety Characteristics
Nongda 876 1 jin/pack 5-7 yuan/pack Winter type, mid-early maturing, strong cold resistance, good lodging resistance
Aikang 58 1 jin/pack 4-8 yuan/pack Semi-winter type, mid-maturing, highly resistant to powdery mildew, stripe rust, and leaf blight
Zhongmai No. 9 1 jin/pack 3-4 yuan/pack Winter type, mid-early maturing, moderate cold resistance, moderately resistant to powdery mildew
Liaochun No. 18 1 jin/pack 4-5 yuan/pack Spring type, early maturing, relatively good lodging resistance, highly resistant to stem rust

Note: Wheat is one of humanity's staple foods. The price of its seeds is generally around 3-5 yuan per jin, but it varies depending on the variety, quality, and place of origin of the seeds. The above prices are for reference only; please refer to the actual prices.

Wheat Sowing Methods

1. Apply sufficient base fertilizer: The principle is, on the basis of increasing organic fertilizer application, to stabilize nitrogen, increase phosphorus, and supplement potassium and micronutrients. Generally, apply 1000-2000 kg of organic fertilizer per mu, about 40 kg of compound fertilizer, and 1 kg of zinc sulfate. Spread evenly before land preparation, and promptly plow deep into the soil.

2. Fine land preparation: The quality of land preparation directly relates to sowing quality. After 3 years or more, deep plowing must be done once. During land preparation, the soil should be harrowed finely and thoroughly, so that the plow layer is uniform in depth, the surface soil is finely broken up, the top is loose and the bottom is firm, the ground is level, and there are no root stubbles.

3. Seed treatment: You can choose a higher-quality seed coating agent or use a single agent for seed dressing. For disease control with a single agent, use diniconazole, carbendazim-plus-thiram, or carbendazim at 0.2% of the seed weight for seed dressing. For controlling underground pests, use 3911 or phoxim at 1.5% of the seed weight for seed dressing.

4. Sow at the appropriate time: The suitable sowing period is October 5-13. The sowing depth is 4-5 cm. For late-sown plots, appropriately increase the sowing rate. The average row spacing is 22.5 cm. After sowing, compact with a stone roller to preserve soil moisture and help wheat emerge. For plots with straw returned to the field, increase the sowing rate by 1.5 kg.

Wheat Cultivation Methods

1. Irrigation and weeding: To prevent gaps and broken rows of seedlings and ensure wheat safely overwinters, irrigate promptly so the wheat forms strong roots. To achieve better weed control results, chemical weeding can be carried out from mid-January to late February.

2. Scientific fertilization: From mid-February to the end of February and from mid-to-late March, apply additional chemical fertilizer at 75-120 and 120-150 kg/hectare respectively, to promote wheat greening and jointing and increase the wheat tillering rate.

3. Prevent lodging: Wheat lodging is mainly caused by a relatively large amount of nitrogen fertilizer applied early on, resulting in an overly large population, a closed field, poor ventilation and light penetration, excessive vegetative growth, overly long basal internodes, and lodging when strong winds occur later.

4. Pest and disease control: During the heading and flowering stage of wheat, to control wheat aphids, blossom midges, armyworms, rust, powdery mildew, and fusarium head blight, prolong the wheat growth period, and increase yield, insecticides can be sprayed, used continuously 1-2 times.

5. Harvest at the right time: Generally, in early to mid-June, wheat is basically mature. Harvest when 2/3 of the wheat ears in the entire field have turned yellow, but it must not be overly mature, lest the grains shatter and reduce the harvest. Harvest, dry, and store separately by variety to avoid mixing varieties.
