Bamboo Fungus Cultivation Methods

Many of us may not know much about bamboo fungus. It is an edible wild fungus, and in many places people also call it bamboo ginseng, which shows that its nutrient content is extremely high. Therefore, artificially cultivated bamboo fungus gradually appeared. So today let us take a look at how this edible fungus, bamboo fungus, is cultivated.

1. Cultivation Conditions

The conditions for cultivating bamboo fungus are relatively demanding. Since there are now several different cultivation methods for bamboo fungus, the cultivation conditions will also differ slightly. First, we should choose a good planting site. Generally, it is best to cultivate in a place with abundant water, fertile soil, and a certain slope while sheltered from the wind. Both temperature and humidity must be kept within a certain range so that the bamboo fungus mycelium can grow and develop normally.

2. Cultivation Methods

At present, the three most commonly used methods for cultivating bamboo fungus are block pressing cultivation, direct bed cultivation, and indoor box cultivation. The block pressing method mainly involves pressing the bamboo fungus spawn into blocks and then placing them into the soil for cultivation. Bamboo fungus cultivated this way is more concentrated, and the growth cycle is relatively short. Direct bed cultivation mainly uses a prepared nutrient medium for planting, so the area that produces mushrooms is relatively large and the utilization rate of the mushroom bed can be improved, but the growth cycle is rather long. Finally, indoor box cultivation requires making wooden boxes in advance, then pouring in the nutrient medium, and then inoculating. This makes management and control more convenient and can effectively improve the quality of bamboo fungus.

3. Nutrient Medium Preparation

The main ingredients of the nutrient medium are sawdust and bran, followed by 1% white granulated sugar, 2% lime powder, and other trace fertilizers totaling about 1%. Then add water and stir. Add water according to the principle of a 1:2 ratio, then stir evenly. Note that it needs to be stirred about once every three hours. Generally, after about three times, the material can be loaded. After the nutrient medium is prepared, it needs to be loaded according to the different cultivation methods. Finally, the loaded nutrient medium is sterilized at high temperature or high pressure, and then it is ready to wait for inoculation.

4. Inoculation Management

First, we need to select good bamboo fungus spawn. Then, before entering the sterile room for inoculation, we need to put on sterile clothing first and disinfect the tools and equipment to be used for inoculation before we can carry out inoculation. During inoculation, it is usually done at reasonable intervals. Generally, they are arranged neatly on the cultivation bed with about 8 cm between rows and about 6 cm between plants. Finally, gently cover them with a layer of bamboo leaves.

5. Mushroom Emergence Management

Mushroom emergence management refers to the process of the bamboo fungus mycelium developing. The most important issues are the management of temperature, humidity, light, and air circulation. First, after the mycelium grows, cover it with a layer of fine soil with relatively sufficient fertility, and then cover it with a layer of bamboo leaves. At the same time, ensure at least good air circulation in the mushroom emergence room every day, keep the temperature at around 24°C, and keep the humidity between 80% and 95%. In this way, you can wait for the bamboo fungus to grow out.

6. Precautions

The first thing to note is that the nutrients for cultivation are mainly bamboo leaves and bamboo poles, etc. Try not to use chemical fertilizers, and mainly supplementing a small amount of trace element fertilizer is sufficient. The second point is that the cultivation temperature cannot be lower than 15°C and also cannot be higher than 35°C. Then, the humidity in the air cannot be lower than 70%, and the humidity in the nutrient medium cannot be lower than 50%. Also, the light for the growth of bamboo fungus is best to be diffused light, but the light also cannot be too weak. Finally, pay attention to cleaning up contaminating bacteria in the cultivation site and carrying out prevention and control of pests and diseases.
