Key Field Management Techniques for Eggplant Cultivation
Eggplant is cultivated in every part of our country, and there are many varieties; no matter which variety, it is a very popular vegetable in our daily lives. However, as the cultivation area gradually expands, many problems arise along with it, causing a substantial drop in eggplant yields. In fact, this is all caused by our lack of a correct management method during the growing process, so how should we manage things when cultivating? Let's take a look together below!

1. Fertilizer and Water Management
We need to control the growth vigor of the eggplant plants well, prevent the plants from growing excessively tall and spindly, balance the relationship between the plant's two growth modes, and improve the plant's fruiting rate. When the first batch of eggplants has not yet fully ripened, apply topdressing in time, then apply topdressing twice during the flowering period, paying attention to the application of calcium and boron. Because eggplant is a plant that bears multiple times, we can harvest once and then apply fertilizer once, since after harvest the plant's internal nutrients are relatively depleted and timely supplementation to the plant is needed. Do not apply a single fertilizer partially or excessively, especially nitrogen fertilizer; nitrogen fertilizer is the key cause of excessive vegetative growth and flower drop in plants.
2. Plant Adjustment
Plant adjustment is a relatively important task in our cultivation process; properly adjusting the plants can improve the air and light penetration of the vegetable garden and benefit fruit setting later on. Old leaves and diseased branches that can no longer carry out photosynthesis should be removed in time, and since eggplant fruits set at the branching points of the branches, we should also adjust in time to promote branching and promote the development of the eggplants. Prevent the plants from growing too densely; the branches after the fourth fork should be removed in time, because most of the flowers after the fourth fork cannot set fruit and are still consuming nutrients. So we should concentrate the plant's nutrients on the flowers that can set fruit, improving the fruit-setting rate.
3. Temperature Management
The temperature required for eggplant growth is also key to its development, especially after the eggplant enters the flowering and fruiting stage, so we should strengthen temperature management during the flowering and fruiting period. During the eggplant fruiting period, the most suitable growing temperature during the day is around 25°C, and the temperature at night should be slightly lower than during the day, around 18°C. Suitable temperatures can delay flower bud differentiation somewhat, and delayed differentiation helps reduce the proportion of short-styled flowers, because short-styled flowers are not conducive to fruit setting; increasing the proportion of long-styled flowers can raise the fruit-setting rate.
4. Pest and Disease Control
Pests and diseases are the most harmful to all plants; they damage the leaves, fruits and flowers of the plants, causing a very large impact on all growth processes such as photosynthesis, fruit setting and nutrient accumulation. We should do a good job of disinfection and sanitation in the orchard, eliminate pathogens and insect eggs in the orchard, and reduce the incidence of pests and diseases. Common eggplant diseases include verticillium wilt and anthracnose, and pests include aphids and red spider mites; we should prepare all control agents for pests and diseases so that when pests or diseases break out suddenly, they can be treated in time.
The above is a brief introduction to eggplant management methods. Eggplant cultivation is relatively simple, but managing it at scale is more difficult. Therefore, before planting, it is still necessary to build up some management knowledge; improving your own cultivation techniques is the real key.
