Cucumber phytophthora blight occurs in all regions. It is one of the important diseases of cucurbit crops. It can harm many kinds of cucurbit crops.
1. Pathogen Cucumber phytophthora blight is a disease caused by fungal infection.
2. Symptom identification
2.1 Leaf lesions appear as light brown, nearly circular large spots.
2.2 After the stem base and stem nodes are affected, the tissue of the diseased part constricts, and the leaves above the diseased part wilt.
2.3 When fruit is affected, it mostly occurs at the flower stalk end; the lesion is water-soaked, dark green, and sunken, gradually shrinks and becomes wet rot, and a grayish-white mold-like substance grows on the surface.
3. Conditions for disease onset During continuous rainy weather, the disease is severe in the field.
4. Control techniques
In the early stage of disease onset, you may choose 25% Ridomil MZ wettable powder at 600 times dilution; or 75% chlorothalonil wettable powder at 500 times dilution for spraying, once every 7-10 days, for 3-4 consecutive sprays.
