Act quickly to prevent and control diseases in eggplant, melon and bitter gourd

New leaves become smaller, narrow and elongated, shrunken, hardened and distorted; diseased plants are obviously stunted and find it hard to set fruit; even if fruit is set, it is deformed and hardened with a mottled surface.%26rdquo; Recently, a farmer brought a diseased bitter gourd vine and anxiously went to the municipal plant protection station for consultation and told this author about it, asking what disease it was and seeking a solution...
Recently, when technicians from the Yong'an Plant Protection Station went to the countryside to investigate vegetable diseases and pests, they found that melons and bitter gourds transplanted at the end of February using plastic film plus arched shed cultivation, and eggplants that had recently been transplanted under plastic film cultivation, had all developed diseases to varying degrees. The main disease of eggplant was late blight, with a diseased leaf rate as high as 4.1%; the main diseases of melon and bitter gourd were damping-off or fusarium wilt and phytophthora blight. In severely affected fields, the mortality rate from damping-off or fusarium wilt was 5.8%-16.2%; in fields with severe bitter gourd phytophthora blight, the diseased leaf rate was as high as 9.2%. In order to prevent the spread and harm of the diseases, it is recommended that agricultural technicians in all townships and subdistricts go deep into the fields to investigate and actively guide farmers in prevention and control. The recommended control measures are as follows:
1. Phytophthora blight of eggplant, melon and bitter gourd: For fields where the disease has already occurred, immediately spray with 800-fold yishuangling solution or 64% shadufan 600-fold solution plus foliar fertilizer when the weather clears; for fields where it has not occurred, spray with 75% chlorothalonil wettable powder 600-800-fold solution plus foliar fertilizer. When spraying, it is best to spray 2 times in succession, alternating the chemicals, once every 7 days.
2. Damping-off or fusarium wilt of melon and bitter gourd: When the weather clears, immediately drench the roots with 50% carbendazim or dikesong 600-fold solution plus aiduoshuo 4500-fold solution or 8000-fold solution 481, or drench the roots with 20% tolclofos-methyl emulsifiable concentrate 1200-fold solution plus aiduoshuo 4500-fold solution or 8000-fold solution 481 and other plant growth regulators, once every 5 days, for 2 consecutive drenchings.
