Improved variety selection: Japanese large-leaf cilantro, Thai large-leaf cilantro, Beijing large-leaf cilantro.
Sow at the right time. For greenhouse cultivation, sow in staggered succession throughout the year, and in summer cover briefly with a shade net. For open-field cultivation, start sowing in late April and harvest in late June. For sowing in May, sow sweet corn as double plants in advance on both sides of the bed at 1 m intervals. This can shade and cool the cilantro, with harvest in July. Sow in mid-August and harvest in November. On average, the yield of cilantro per mu per crop can reach 1800 kg.
Land preparation and fertilization. After deep plowing and sunning the soil, make beds 1.6-2 m wide. Per mu, broadcast 3000 kg of decomposed pig manure, 50 kg of ternary compound fertilizer, 20 kg of potassium sulfate, and appropriate amounts of the trace elements boron, zinc, magnesium, and iron, then turn them into the soil and level it. To eliminate underground pests, use 2 kg of Japanese Yinong Shendan or 2 kg of 3% Mirel. To eliminate underground pathogens, broadcast 2 kg of Hainan 40% Tujunjing or 2 kg of Zhengzhou Jinzheng Zhuangdiwang.
Sowing method. Sun the seeds in advance for 1-2 hours, and press the seeds with a wooden stick for about 5 minutes. Then soak them in clean water for 20 hours, and air-dry for half an hour so the seeds absorb enough oxygen and separate. For drilling, use 1.5 kg of seed per mu; for broadcasting, use 3 kg of seed. After sowing, cover the soil by raking with an iron rake, then compact it with a stone roller or by treading with both feet. Irrigate thoroughly, then spray 120 ml of 33% Shitianpu to close the soil and control weeds.
Field management. After sowing, keep the soil moist and irrigate frequently with a small amount of water. During the vigorous growth period, cilantro needs more water. Every 10 days, apply 6 kg of quick-acting nitrogen fertilizer or 10 kg of water-soluble flush fertilizer, and increase the application of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. From the mid-stage onward, use 15 kg of ternary compound fertilizer, 20 kg of superphosphate, and 10 kg of potassium sulfate, applying them in three split applications, once every 10 days, combined with watering. When the seedlings are about 12 cm tall, thin them, leaving one seedling every 3-5 cm, or leaving one cluster every about 18 cm with 3-4 plants per cluster.
