The method of cultivating ginger with plastic film mulching is simple and easy to learn.

Ginger softening cultivation is based on normal ginger cultivation, increasing planting density and strengthening shade and cooling measures, so as to achieve the goal of harvesting tender ginger. The tender ginger harvested in this way not only has a long harvest period and high yield, but is also fresh, tender and crisp, with thin skin and sparse nodes, and has a fresh aromatic ginger flavor when eaten. 1. Because ginger cultivation with plastic film mulching raises the ground temperature, ginger can be sown earlier, extending the growth period and increasing yield. At the same time, it also preserves moisture, inhibits weed growth, reduces the number of cultivations, and lowers costs.
1. Single-layer film mulching
Using plastic film mulching to cultivate ginger can allow sowing 25-30 days earlier and increase yield by more than 20% compared with the control. After sowing, spray 1 application of herbicide, then cover with plastic film, which can save the trouble of pulling weeds and also reduce the number of herbicide applications. Generally, the film is removed in late June. The specific method is: after sowing, stretch a 1.2 m wide plastic film tightly over the ridges on both sides of the furrow, take soil and press the film firmly, keeping the distance between the bottom of the furrow and the film at about 15 cm, with one sheet of film covering two rows. After the young sprouts emerge, when the seedlings touch the plastic film, punch holes to lead the seedlings out.
2. Double-layer film mulching
The author used double-layer mulching with transparent and black plastic films and achieved fairly ideal results. The specific method is: after sowing ginger in mid-April, immediately cover with transparent plastic film, and in early May, before ginger emerges, add another layer of black plastic film over the transparent film. The main function of the black film is to provide shade, achieving the goals of cooling, moisture retention, water saving, and weed control. This method can not only reduce the cost of shading by 200-300 yuan/mu, but also increase yield by 30%-40%. It is currently a new high-yield ginger cultivation technique worth promoting.
