Key Points of Plastic Film Mulching Cultivation Techniques for Spring Asparagus Beans
(1) Variety selection: At present, the widely cultivated asparagus bean variety is Zhijiang 28-2, which can be used for spring plastic film mulching cultivation. (2) Sowing time: The suitable lower limit temperature for sowing asparagus beans is 14°C, and sowing should be done when the temperature steadily passes 4°C around the time of the last frost. (2) Sowing time: The suitable lower limit temperature for sowing asparagus beans is 14°C, and sowing should be done when the temperature steadily passes 4°C around the time of the last frost. The sowing method for asparagus beans can be the same as that for common beans (kidney beans): sowing in low holes on high ridges, then covering with plastic film. Row spacing 65 cm, hole spacing 18-25 cm, 4000-5000 holes per mu, 2-4 seeds per hole, sowing rate 2-3 kg.
(3) Field management: Mainly pay attention to removing the lateral buds below the first inflorescence, and removing the leaf buds from the mixed buds where flower buds and leaf buds grow together above the first inflorescence; the lateral branches in the middle and upper parts should be topped after flower buds appear. Also note that after the main vine climbs to the top of the trellis, the top of the main vine should be removed in time to stimulate the growth of lateral vines, and the lateral vines should still be topped after flower buds appear.
(4) Harvesting: Asparagus beans should be harvested in time after the pods have reached sufficient length. Delayed harvesting causes the seeds to swell, reducing commercial quality and also affecting the growth of subsequent pods. When harvesting, be careful not to damage other inflorescences, flower buds, and vine leaves.
