Fertilization patterns and methods for napa cabbage

Everyone has surely eaten napa cabbage; the stir-fried napa cabbage is very sweet. Although the market price of napa cabbage is not high, many people still sell and grow napa cabbage. Because the market demand for napa cabbage is very large, large-scale cultivation of napa cabbage is still worth considering. In the process of growing napa cabbage, fertilizer is the most important thing; only by applying fertilizer well can the yield of napa cabbage be guaranteed. So what are the fertilization patterns for napa cabbage? How should it be fertilized? Let's take a look together!

1. Nutrient requirements

During the cultivation of napa cabbage, it requires a large amount of fertilizer, and it also has requirements for the nutrient composition of the fertilizer. The nutrient it needs most is potassium fertilizer, followed by nitrogen fertilizer, and finally phosphorus fertilizer. During the seedling stage, napa cabbage has the lowest fertilizer requirement, but sufficient nutrients are still needed to ensure the growth of napa cabbage. After passing through the seedling stage and entering the rosette stage, the demand for nutrients increases rapidly, and the nutrient level at this time will determine the final quality and yield of the napa cabbage. The fertilizer required during the final heading stage is no less than that during the rosette stage, mainly potassium fertilizer and an appropriate amount of nitrogen fertilizer.

2. Fertilization methods

(1) Base fertilizer

Before planting napa cabbage, the base fertilizer in the soil should be applied sufficiently to improve soil fertility. Farmyard manure can be used as the base fertilizer because farmyard manure is rich in nutrients and has strong fertility, so applying sufficient base fertilizer is very important for the growth of napa cabbage. The specific fertilization amount mainly depends on the planting area. Usually, the base fertilizer amount per mu is about 4800-5200 kg, and an appropriate amount of compound fertilizer is added.

(2) Seedling-promoting fertilizer

Seedling fertilizer is also very important for napa cabbage, because the seedlings are very thin and weak and need sufficient nutrients to promote seedling growth, increase growth speed, and strengthen the resistance of the napa cabbage. Quick-acting fertilizers such as ammonium nitrate can be used as seedling fertilizer, applied into each planting hole before sowing, and watered sufficiently after sowing.

(3) Plant-development fertilizer

Plant-development fertilizer refers to the topdressing work during the rosette stage of napa cabbage. The rosette stage determines the later yield, so fertilizer application should not be stinted at this stage. Reasonable fertilization and watering are important conditions for providing for the growth of rosette leaves, but the amount should also be noted to prevent excessive application from causing excessive vegetative growth and affecting the heading time of napa cabbage. Usually, when a small portion of the plants have already begun to head, it is time to apply the plant-development fertilizer.

(4) Heading fertilizer

Heading fertilizer has reached the final stage of napa cabbage growth, and at this time the fertilizer requirement also increases greatly. Begin applying heading fertilizer when the napa cabbage has not yet fully headed. Note to apply more potassium fertilizer, and use fertilizer with strong fertility and long-lasting fertilizer effect as the heading fertilizer. However, the amount still needs attention; too little or too much will have a certain impact on the final result of heading. It is best to mix farmyard manure with chemical fertilizer and apply it by the furrow application method.

The above is a brief introduction to the nutrient requirements and fertilization methods of napa cabbage. No matter what crop it is, fertilizer and nutrients are the most important. Fertilizing crops is equivalent to people eating meals; without eating enough, how can one have the energy to go to work? It is all the same principle. Therefore, during the planting process, do not let napa cabbage “go hungry”; only in this way can the yield be further increased.
