There are three things to beware of when growing radishes; pay attention to these points

The skin of the radish root develops horizontal thread-like black lines and becomes rough; in severe cases, the internal tissue discolors and spoils. The main causes are boron deficiency, excess chloride ions; a high groundwater table and poor drainage; and the application of inadequately decomposed fertilizer. Therefore, planting in low-lying land should be avoided; chlorine-containing compounds should not be applied or should be applied sparingly, and boron fertilizer should be applied in greater amounts....
Beware of hard soil. Radishes are a vegetable that likes soft soil and fears hard soil. Apart from not being a plot that has been continuously cropped with cruciferous vegetables, the soil for cultivation also requires a deep soil layer, loose texture, and easy drainage and irrigation; only then will the radishes have good quality and high yield.
Beware of unreasonable fertilization. Radishes prefer heavy basal fertilizer and little topdressing. For basal fertilizer, generally use 65-75 kg of rapeseed cake, 50-60 kg of plant ash, and 20-25 kg of superphosphate per 667 sq m; after broadcasting, turn it into the topsoil, then pour 250-300 kg of human waste per 667 sq m; after it dries, turn the soil so that it is fully and evenly mixed with the topsoil, and then sow.
Beware of drought. Insufficient water supply can cause the radish's fleshy root to have a thick skin, hard flesh, and increased pungency, resulting in low yield and poor quality. For plots where radishes are grown, the bed soil should be relatively moist before sowing. For early-maturing varieties, if dry weather occurs, generally irrigate once before sowing; irrigate shallowly, and after the surface soil dries, sow, then cover appropriately with some rice straw to prevent excessive water evaporation. Radishes need less water during the seedling stage; if the bed soil is not too dry, no watering is needed. Once the fleshy root begins to swell and firm up, until 4-5 days before harvest, relatively sufficient water should be supplied to the radishes, keeping the soil at 70%-80% humidity. Watering is generally done in the morning or evening. During drought, water once every 1-2 days.
