What causes lotus root rot?
Topdressing can be applied 2-3 times. The first time is when 1-2 standing leaves have grown, the second time can be before the rows close, and the third time is when the rear ridge leaves appear. For every 667 sq m (mu), apply 2000-4000 kg of manure or 15 kg of urea the first time, 20-25 kg of compound fertilizer the second time, and 10-15 kg of urea the third time. This disease is lotus root rot, caused by infection by various pathogenic fungi. The surface of diseased lotus roots appears water-soaked, and in severe cases it can cause lotus roots to wither and die in patches. The outer surface of the lotus root turns brown or black, and when cut open, the vascular bundles near the center can also be seen to have turned brown. Continuous cropping during cultivation aggravates the occurrence of this disease. The main control measures are: 1. Practice 2-3 year crop rotation; 2. Chemical control: spray with 50% carbendazim powder plus 75% chlorothalonil powder at 600 times dilution and treat the seeds, cover and seal for 24 hours, dry in the shade and then transplant; when the disease occurs, choose quick-killing spirit at 1000 times dilution or 64% fenaminosulf at 800 times dilution to spray the upper leaf stalks, once every 7-10 days, for 2-3 consecutive treatments.
