Wheat yellow dwarf disease is a viral disease mainly spread by aphids, and in some years the damage is quite severe.
Symptoms
When infected at the seedling stage, the leaves lose their green color and turn yellow, and the plants are severely stunted; the leaves of severely affected plants often cannot survive the winter, or after overwintering cannot joint or head. Plants infected later show no obvious stunting; the upper young leaves begin to yellow from the leaf tip and gradually spread downward, and the yellowed leaves are bright yellow, vivid and glossy, with yellow stripes between the veins. Plants infected at the heading stage have only the flag leaf turn yellow, and some varieties develop purple leaves after infection.
Control methods
① Select disease-resistant or disease-tolerant varieties.
② Clear weeds in and around the field.
③ Strengthen cultivation management such as watering and fertilizing; foliar spraying of Tianda 2116 and Tianda Yufeng can significantly enhance the disease resistance of plants.
