Autumn corn is suitable for no-till direct sowing after mid-July. After harvesting the previous corn crop, promptly clean the field, and early sowing at the earliest opportunity is key; generally deep plowing is not required.
1. Sun-dry the seeds for 2-3 days, and soak them for 4-6 hours before sowing to promote uniform and tidy emergence. Arrange plant spacing at a density of 3500-4000 plants per 667 sq m, use a seedling transplanter to make holes 5 cm deep, then sow 1-2 selected corn seeds per hole, cover with 3 cm of soil after sowing, then water to settle the soil, ensuring full emergence in one sowing. Thin and set the seedlings during the 5-6 leaf stage.
2. Within 1-2 days after sowing corn, use glyphosate plus 50% acetochlor 150 ml per 667 sq m mixed with water for a closed spray, which can effectively control weeds.
3. Because the early stage of autumn corn has high temperatures and the corn growth period is shortened, base fertilizer should be applied heavily. After sowing, use a seedling transplanter to make holes 15 cm deep between the corn plants on the ridge surface, apply about 40 kg of multi-element compound fertilizer per 667 sq m, and after setting the seedlings at the 5-6 leaf stage, apply 15 kg of urea per 667 sq m as seedling fertilizer. At the 10-12 leaf stage, apply 15 kg of urea per 667 sq m. Drain waterlogging and irrigate in a timely manner.
4. Without affecting the next crop, harvest as late as possible to fully extend the corn grain-filling time, increase grain weight, raise corn yield, and improve corn quality.
