What principles should be followed when fertilizing peanuts?
(1) Farmyard manure as the main fertilizer, with chemical fertilizers as a supplement. In China, most peanuts are grown in hilly areas, where the soil layer is thin and fertility is low. (1) Farmyard manure as the main fertilizer, with chemical fertilizers as a supplement. In China, most peanuts are grown in hilly areas, where the soil layer is thin and fertility is low. Farmyard manure is mainly organic fertilizer, rich in nutrients, able to improve the soil, build up soil fertility, and has a long-lasting fertilizer effect. Chemical fertilizers are quick-acting fertilizers; although they also contain the nutrient elements peanuts need, compared with farmyard manure, their nutrient composition is still single. At the same time, during application, chemical fertilizers leave behind other components, which is not conducive to peanut growth or the improvement of soil fertility.
(2) Organic fertilizer and inorganic fertilizer should be applied in combination; the interaction between the two increases the activation capacity of soil microorganisms and the decomposition rate of organic fertilizer, transforming various nutrients into forms that peanuts can absorb, thereby improving fertilizer use efficiency.
(3) Full amounts of nitrogen and potassium, double the phosphorus. For every 50 kg of peanut pods produced, the ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium required is 5:4:2.5. The current-season utilization rates of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium fertilizers by peanuts are 41.8%-50.4%, 15%-25%, and 45%-60%, respectively.
