Cotton damping-off, also known as root rot and black root disease, is caused by Rhizoctonia solani. Infection before seed germination can cause seed rot, and infection after germination but before emergence can cause sprout rot. When cotton seedlings are affected after emergence, yellow-brown lesions initially appear on the base near the soil surface, and the lesions gradually expand to encircle the entire base.
Senior agronomist Zhang Chuanyi said that cotton damping-off is also a soil-borne fungal disease of cotton at the seedling stage. After the plastic mulch is opened, because of the change in environment, the cotton seedlings cannot adapt well, and combined with the weather at that time often being low-temperature and rainy, with low soil temperature, damping-off is very likely to occur.
The mycelium, sclerotia in the soil and on diseased residues, and infected seeds are the primary infection sources of cotton damping-off. After sowing, emergence is slow and growth is weak, making the plants susceptible to infection, and cotton is most susceptible at the cotyledon stage. Zhang Chuanyi told reporters that the prevention and control method for damping-off is root drenching or foliar spraying. When spraying the leaves, it is best to walk slowly so that the solution can penetrate to the root crown, thus preventing and controlling the occurrence of damping-off.
External formula one: for seed dressing, use 10 jin of cotton seed with one bag of Tianda 2116 seed soaking and dressing type, mixed with 2 to 3 jin of water + 0.5 g of 99% hymexazol for seed dressing, dry in the air before sowing, and do not let the seed sweat.
Formula two: 50% carbendazim 800 times or 70% thiophanate-methyl 800 times + 70% mancozeb 600 times.
Formula three: Tianda 2116 Zhuangmiaoling 600 times + 99% hymexazol 3000 times for foliar spraying plus root drenching.
