Spring management of wheat focuses on fertilizer and water; fertilization and irrigation must keep pace.
Generally carry out compaction and hoeing, and harrowing when the soil surface is frozen. Harrowing or compaction can break up clods, settle the soil, raise and conserve soil moisture, draw on deep water, and promote root growth and tillering. Through compaction, capillaries form in the soil, and deep soil moisture rises along the capillaries to the upper soil layer, which helps nourish root growth. Early-spring hoeing and harrowing...
The spring growth stage of winter wheat from greening to the booting stage generally lasts 50 to 60 days, and it is the key period for yield formation. Therefore, doing a good job of spring management of wheat plays a very important role in increasing wheat yield, and the most important part is good fertilizer and water management. I. At the greening stage: For wheat fields with poorer soil fertility and below-average yields, as well as weak seedlings in high-yield wheat fields, especially weak seedlings that have run out of fertilizer because no winter fertilizer was applied, apply greening-stage fertilizer as a top dressing.
II. At the standing-up stage: For medium- and low-yield wheat fields, late-sown weak seedlings, weak seedlings that have run out of fertilizer, and old weak seedlings in high-yield wheat fields, if fertilizer and water measures to promote growth were not taken at the greening stage or were insufficient, apply heavy fertilizer as early as possible at the standing-up stage and irrigate with standing-up water; for strong seedlings in precision-sown high-yield wheat fields, on the basis of controlling greening, the standing-up stage should generally be the main period for fertilizer and water.
III. At the jointing stage: For strong seedlings and slightly over-vigorous seedlings in precision-sown high-yield wheat fields, strong seedlings grown by conventional cultivation methods, and late-sown wheat grown by the single-stem cultivation method, all should be watered at the proper time at the jointing stage and given heavy jointing fertilizer.
