Zinc supplementation for rice boosts disease resistance and high yields, making rice plants healthier

When rice enters the jointing and panicle elongation stage, it is an important period of transition from vegetative growth to reproductive growth, and also a critical period that determines yield. Doing a good job of field management in the middle and late stages of rice is crucial for ensuring sufficient panicles, developing large panicles, shaping a high-yield plant type, and building a good framework for a bumper harvest. In recent years, due to incomplete fertilization technology and the one-sided pursuit of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium nutrients while neglecting the role of trace elements, rice nutrition has not been comprehensive enough, and rice physiological diseases have occurred from time to time. This has become one of the main limiting factors affecting rice yield increases.

Zinc is the manager of nutrients, able to coordinate the distribution of nutrient elements within the crop and allocate nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium to the parts the crop needs; it participates in crop respiration; enhances crop stress resistance, especially resistance to freezing, cold, and high temperatures; and promotes the formation of pistils. An appropriate amount of zinc supplementation not only brings many benefits to plants, but also plays a very important role in human nutritional health. By increasing the zinc content of agricultural products, it helps regulate the nutritional balance of zinc in the food chain and promote human health. According to scientific research, zinc is one of the important trace elements necessary for the growth and development of organisms and for nutritional and biochemical metabolism. Reasonable zinc intake has 7 major benefits: promoting children's intellectual development, accelerating the growth and development of adolescents, maintaining and promoting visual development, affecting taste and appetite, promoting the development of sexual organs, preventing Alzheimer's disease, and improving immunity. Zinc is not only a good teacher and helpful friend for enhancing intellectual development, but also a contributor to human health and beauty. Therefore, whether for plants or for humans, zinc supplementation and zinc enrichment are necessary.

Zinc deficiency is relatively obvious in three periods of rice growth, namely: the seedling stage, after transplanting, and the booting stage. There are many methods for applying zinc to rice, and in actual operation an appropriate method can be selected according to specific conditions.

1. Field basal application: apply 200 g per mu of Hefeng granular zinc or Futaiwei Wuhe zinc as a base fertilizer, which can improve rice quality and yield.

2. Zinc application in the seedbed: one day before transplanting, spray the seedbed with a 2000-fold solution of Hefeng zinc or Fenglihui zinc.

3. Rice seedling revival to greening stage: combined application of phosphorus and zinc fertilizers can promote the rice's absorption capacity, improve seedling stress resistance, and prevent the stiff seedling phenomenon caused by low temperatures in early rice fields and other reasons. Generally, 7~8 days after rice transplanting and greening, apply about 18 kg per mu of mixed zinc-phosphorus fertilizer (1:10 ratio), which can increase yield, enhance stress resistance, and improve rice quality. After rice transplanting and seedling revival, spray Hefeng zinc or Fenglihui zinc at 15 ml~30 ml per mu.

4. After tillering: spray the leaves with Hefeng zinc or Fenglihui zinc at 15~30 ml per mu, twice, with an interval of 4~6 days.
