Question: What is the cause of yellowing and curled leaf disease in tomatoes? How can it be prevented and controlled?
Answer:     Hello! Regarding yellowing and curled leaf disease in tomatoes: if this disease is accompanied by the occurrence of tobacco whitefly (small white moths), then it is very likely tomato yellow leaf curl virus disease (commonly known as: TY virus disease). There are two methods for preventing and controlling TY virus: 1. Plant resistant varieties. For example: Zhefen 702 is a relatively good resistant variety against TY virus. 2. Thoroughly control tobacco whitefly. Tobacco whitefly is the transmission vector of TY virus; eliminate it completely and tomatoes will no longer contract this disease. Specific methods: 1. Cultivate insect-free (tobacco whitefly-free) seedlings and transplant them in an insect-free greenhouse. Specific methods: Cover ventilation openings and doors with 60-mesh insect-proof screens. Use yellow sticky traps to trap and kill adults; use chemical pesticides to control tobacco whitefly. Applicable agents include: abamectin + buprofezin. Eliminate adults and nymphs together.
