1. Adapt to local conditions and select good varieties. In plains and hilly areas, promote Yedan 13 and Xiyu No. 3, paired with Huayu No. 4, Zhongdan 32, Chenghai No. 1, and Yuanzheng 808; for intercropping in cotton fields, choose short-stalked, short-growth-period Yedan 22, Yedan 51, and 9362; in suburban areas, mainly for fresh eating, you can plant Zhongnuo 1...
To plant spring corn well and strive for a good harvest after autumn, the following measures should be mastered:
Select good varieties: For spring corn, choose good varieties with a growth period of more than 112 days, well-developed root systems, compact plant types, upward-pointing leaves, robust growth, strong stress resistance, single ears, and large grains, such as Nongda 108, Shenshi 29, Tangkang No. 8, etc. Before sowing, carefully select seeds, remove small, diseased, and shriveled seeds, and sun the seeds for 2-3 days. This can enhance the seeds' water absorption capacity, promote earlier emergence, improve seed purity, reduce volunteer seedlings, and improve seedling uniformity.
Advocate seed coating: For uncoated seeds, use 50 grams of Jiazanling plus one tube of "Biduoshou" to mix with 20 kg of corn seed, which has the effect of controlling underground pests and promoting earlier emergence.
Choose the best sowing period: Spring corn requires setting the sowing date according to suitable soil moisture. With sufficient moisture, early May; for spring white land after autumn plowing and winter irrigation, in early spring it should be harrowed and rolled to preserve moisture. For high-yield fields, when soil moisture permits, sowing can be appropriately delayed to May 5-15, which is favorable for high corn yield. For general fields, the sowing period is around April 25-May 5.
Increase fertilizer application: Increase phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, and adjust the ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium.
1. For a yield of 1200 jin of corn per mu, apply 20 kg of diammonium phosphate, 25 kg of urea, and 15 kg of potassium sulfate per mu to achieve comprehensive fertilization, with an N.P.K ratio of 2. Fertilization time and method: At sowing, apply 70% of chemical fertilizer plus all phosphorus and potassium fertilizer as a one-time basal application or deep side-ditch application, and apply the other 30% of chemical fertilizer as a one-time topdressing at the 10-leaf stage, 15 cm to the side of the seedlings and 15 cm deep.
3. Planting pattern and density: For spring-sown corn, advocate flat sowing with equal row spacing. For Nongda 108, Shenshi 29, and Tangkang 8, row spacing 1.8 chi, plant spacing 0.95 chi, leaving 3500 plants per mu. For Gaoyou 115, row spacing 2 chi, plant spacing 1 chi, leaving 3000 plants per mu.
4. Sowing techniques: In villages and towns with conditions, advocate mechanical sowing or double-lou sowing, with a sowing rate of 4 jin/mu, separating seed and fertilizer, and applying fertilizer 3-4 cm below the seeds to prevent seedling burn and promote downward growth of seed roots. Where conditions do not allow, use a small plowshare to open furrows and sow seeds by hand, with a sowing rate of 5-6 jin/mu.
By mastering the above measures, you will have built a framework for high yield, and after autumn you can obtain the ideal corn yield.
