What is the correct method for topdressing celery?

Edible Gardening 0 views
What should you do to increase celery yield? To boost celery yield, you can spray gibberellin. Spraying celery with a gibberellin solution, a plant growth regulator, can promote cell division and growth. Eight hours after spraying, the cells' nutrient uptake reaches its peak. According to trials, the optimal concentration of gibberellin for promoting celery growth is 0.004% to 0.009...
How should celery be topdressed? Are there any methods?

You can follow the methods below:
Apply more nitrogen fertilizer appropriately. Celery needs large amounts of nitrogen fertilizer throughout its growth period. Topdressing should be based mainly on ammonium bicarbonate, applied in small amounts multiple times, generally requiring 2 to 3 topdressings. Note, however, that celery should not be topdressed with urea, because after urea topdressing, celery growth instead slows, cellulose increases, the plants tend to age and quality declines, and it tastes bitter when eaten. Therefore, celery should not be topdressed with urea at any time during its growth period.

Apply organic fertilizer as topdressing. Topdressing with composted, fully decomposed organic fertilizer can improve celery quality. Note that undecomposed organic fertilizer must not be used as topdressing, to avoid burning the roots and causing root rot. After applying organic fertilizer, the plant stalks become tender and thick, fiber is reduced, and both quality and yield are greatly improved.

Supplement with micronutrient fertilizers. Calcium deficiency causes "heart rot" in celery, while boron deficiency causes physiological disorders such as hollow celery and cracked leaf stalks. Foliar spraying with a 0.5% calcium chloride or calcium nitrate solution can prevent "heart rot" in celery; to prevent hollow celery and cracked leaf stalks, apply 0.5 to 0.75 kg of borax per mu as a base fertilizer, or spray the foliage with a 0.3% to 0.5% borax solution.
